Wauw, very great detailed shots. Many thanks for posting them! There's only one think I dislike of the detail of this bird: the bottom of the wings. Please have a look at the following picture:http://img217.imageshack.us/f/pmdg737ngx331101edit.jpg/Everything looks great, sharp and detailed but the part in the red circle looks crap. It looks too "flight simmy", unreal. I do not want to run down this awesome project but I heard PMDG wants everything that perfect and precize so here I'm with my point. It would be great if the bottom of the wing can be (better) modified. :( But at all, great job PMDG.- Are there coming some new virtual cockpit shots aswell and also night shots?Kind regards,Steven
no one can be happy it seems.....its always something with someone. its fsx, its gonna look "flight simmy."This goes for every user on this forum, PMDG is not going to change anything that a typical user thinks that they should. Its useless and completely annoying to see the bickering about such minuscule things.

Thank you very much for the pictures, Mr. Scimone.I love the details on the flap mechanism and wheel well. Speaking of which, what is that shiny thingamajig in the center of the wheel well? Is that the Standby Hydraulic System Reservoir?

Folks,I'll chime in about the jobs comments. I do not work for PMDG full-time (Although I do put in more than a full-time's work into PMDG) but I have a job outside of PMDG in the construction industry. Let me mention this, the construction industry is unpredictable, there are often scheduled dates of completion but RARELY do any of the projects complete on time. This is as a result of several factors that would be out of contractors control, examples are building code challenges, Architect changing plans, complicated than expected jobs and too often, there are major additions that were not factored into the deadlines. A job I'm working at, its a restaurant at the new Vancouver Trade Convention Centre, they were supposed to be open Summer of 2010, that got delayed due to numerous design changes and challenges with the building. A new deadline of October 2010 was set, nope not done yet. 6 weeks ago a new deadline was established as an absolute deadline, March 1st 2011, well its today and guess what? NOT DONE. Now the developer has decided they are not going to set up a new deadline and instead the restaurant will open when it is ready and passed for occupation by the City of Vancouver.
Psh, I'm up to my eyeballs in design changes/change orders and my project is still running on time. Maybe PMDG should hire me as their constructionproject manager. :( In all seriousness though, this is how the real world works. Accurately estimating time to completion on a project like this, where I imagine the development team is not only working towards creating a complete simulation, but simultaneously inventing the techniques to do so, is nearly impossible. In most fields, you at least have a sense from experience how long a task will take, but when you're starting from scratch all of your experience is rendered irrelevant. While I share the frustration of others on here that I don't have this bird in my hands yet, I understand that sometimes things just take longer than they were expected to, even if the original estimate was entirely reasonable at the time it was made (I recently spent a month working the graveyard shift because a particular task took three times longer to complete than anyone had estimated). It would be nice if PMDG could share their estimates, but it's also crystal clear that the potential forum acrimony created should they miss a "deadline" (even if it was explicitly stated as an estimate) outweighs the benefits of giving us a release date. That said, PMDG shouldn't have these kind of issues with the 777, considering that they'll have gotten all the kinks worked out. I'll be expecting a full, 100% accurate CPM schedule for the 777 project within 5 working days of NGX release. </###### construction manager from hell> :( :(

External model is amazing, thank you for the update.Wow, would I like to get my hands on your material setup and work-flow pipeline. Looks like JasonB has put some serious hours into this beauty. Question for JasonB - Are you responsible for all of the external models for the NGX including Modeling/Texture Maps/Materials/Animation etc..? I'm awed by your talent.
Jon,We're glad you like the model and yes I did put serious hours into the external model. I've lost track of the hours but I'll tell you this, its not just me, its a team effort. Yes I'm responsible for the NGX exterior model, but I could not have done it with the team's help, Vin's been an excellent mentor (when I'm stuck on something or have questions about the modeling program, he's the one that I bug), Pete has been more than my eyes when it came to creating the masters. He has put a lot of his touches on the textures and of course there's the rest of the team's valuable feedback. So its not just me, its everybody else and I hate to take credit for the exterior model. We went all out on the exterior model and there are lots of details you just have to find!Cheers,

Alex,Its a special type of centrifuge - much like the vibrator in your cellphones - that spins slow enough to create an off-balance force vertically that turns the whole NGX into a giant pogo stick. In other words, when the RPM is just right, the NGX will start to bounce like a pogo stick :-PBut other than that, yeah your correct on the first guess. There's much more detail on this NGX you'll have to find it all...Cheers,

Steven,The team is happy to hear the kind words about the exterior model, however we are also sorry to hear that the wings look too "flight simmy" and crap. We've just had a team meeting about the wings and came to a decision. We will spend a year writing a radiosity solution for the FSX render engine. But first we need to spend time hunting down the original ACES team and then we have to charge $200 more per unit to pay for the FSX source code.Really, the wing is fine, it is just the angle you are seeing the objects at and the time of day, the lighting etc. In other words, I don't think this is an area that really concerns us but thank you for pointing it out for us.Cheers,

Not a personal rip, but for those who constantly ask to see things, or nit pick. Please stop, for the sake of the 1000s who dont feel the need to constantly pester the PMDG team. Let them get the job done, I personally will enjoy the accual aircraft alot more then viewing a bunch of pointless screenshots. Its quite obvious how amazing this aircraft really is.

If you can get the source code for $200 extra a unit, count me in! Considering what you've done with the NGX, I think PMDG would take FSX to a whole new planet! :(
