My personal 2 cents on the topic of release date:While I've followed this forums the past months I built some sort of picture of Mr. Randazzo resp. the dev-team of PMDG and when I read the todays post something became clear to me: The people that develop the NGX do like their job this much so they actually don't WANT the NGX to be released ;) Don't get me wrong, this is something we should strongly appreciate. The entire dev team is working harder than hard on this product and I wonder where they get all the energy from. Even "enthusiasm" isn't the right word to decribe this phenomenon correctly (maybe "freaky" would fit ^^). I'd say we shouldn't only cease to complain about the sliding release date, we should begin to be thankfull for every day the team spends on the NGX to bring us an outstanding and top-notch product. If you look around, how many things/products do you see that were developed with such a high level of dedication?Regarding updates I have to say that I'm very happy with PMDGs update politics. How many enterprises give information about forthcoming products. And how many bosses do have contact with their costumers as Mr. randazzo has?Hopefully those bashing at PMDG for not releasing the PMDG when they wanted, start to think about this...RegardsAlex LehmannRemark: I'm not a native english speaker/writer, so please excuse the mistakes I make ;)

Not boring IMO.An interesting 'behind the scenes' look.

Alright- now let me go work on that movie....
Can anybody serve some popcorn?

One of the normal tasks that we undertake approaching release is optimization. While the entire NGX has been written from the ground up to provide the best performance possible, there are always areas that can be optimized once the final project starts taking shape. Vin and Michael were heavily involved in this during the past few days, and late tonight when they finished we had an NGX that is getting fully 20% more FPS in most scenarios than it was prior to their update. 20% might not seem like much, but all of us who have flown the airplane post-update are in agreement that the 20% provided a significant boost in fluidity even in extremely complex scenery.
20% FPS improvement is great. I'll take all i can get when flying into CYVR with VANCOUVER+ & FTX-PNW loaded.

Boring but necessary stuff if you want to do it to the level you are shooting for. Cheers for posting that.Of course, even with all that effort at getting it spot on, you just know that someone who flew an NG with the 10.3 version of the FMC software is going to come along and say 'the FMC doesn't work like the one I flew' though, don't you? :LMAO:Al

@Robert,The update like that explaining the situation [no screenshots or video needed] really really goes a long way in reassuring customers and keeping the place civil and positive.I really hope from the get go the 777 project will follow something along the lines of this! :)Thanks again for the update,, reggae music is a good music to listen to if you are pulling your hair out over 2 lines of coding!! :D.

Thanks for the update RSR. This wasn't boring to read at all. Hopefully, everything works out as planned.

Hi team. Sure you know the software development philosophy "Release early, release often". what do you think about it, and why do you think it may not apply to your company?

"One fellow was even critical of us because we "don't update our products as frequently as our competitors." To that I say: "Thank you for noticing!" You see- the ONLY reason we are still hammering away at the NGX a full 6 months after we would have preferred to release her is that we would rather give you a full, complete, thoroughly debugged and strong performing product 6 months late- especially if the option is to deliver something to you that is buggy, incomplete, inaccurate, poor performing or simply shoddy..."Hi Robert, that reported sentence is another important demostration about the quality of your product. Personally I don't like and I don't choose Fs add-ons because are rapidly-developped or because have a wonderful external model: I want products realistic, as real as you get (with the limits of FS). I.e. also your "old" 737 nver finish to wondwr me: it's the unique, until now, B737NG add-on for FS that matches almost perfectly all the performance tables of the real bird (I checked vs. CAL B737 NG).Recently I has been charged of not understand almost anything about the 737 by same staff members of another B737 NG add-on for Fs9 just because I wrote that their product doesn't match a realistic fuel flow and N% speed at low altitude (holding pattern) and during approach having an higher values vs. real fuel flow of about 65% (a little high according to me): I couln't keep in account fs limits, I'm not a rel pilot...different version of the engine could have different specific fuel flow..(65%!!!) no one admitting their product cuold have some area to be fixed...Here it's the difference with PMDG: Two months ago I rented a B737NG fixed simulator in Milan, of course not a FFS level D sim but a good machine used also for "pre-inteview courses" by airline candidates, naturally for my first mission I requested no wind and the most part of the flight was made by autopilot and A/T with manual landing but, i.e. if I had disengaged my A/T and used manual throttle by setting N1 like the values of the PMDG 737 I would have obtained a corrected pitch/power setting for any speed and flaps configuration (the same if I had used fuel flow as primary setting). If you have to find defect of a pmdg product (strange the famous "FS limits" should be equal for all the companies) you have to make an hard-work i.e. the fact that until now by opening a door (both 737 and 744) doesn't cause a lost of pressurization or flying without hydraulics (i.e. on the B744 by selecting a fluid leak in all the hydraulic systems) you can move the primary controls without any problem..but those are details...So long life to PMDG!!!!!!CiaoAndrea Buono - Como I

Thanks for the update "El Duderino"!

Who needs a video or screenies when you go into that level of detail. Thanks for the update Robert!

"The aircraft G-limits are only there in case there is another flight by that particular airplane. If subsequent flights do not appear likely, there are no G-limits."
