PMDG 737NGX Video

Featured Replies

The PMDG 737 NGX was just announced at $69.99 for the 800/800WL and 900/900WL base package.
That's a sensible decision. I only want the base package and 42 quid is very reasonable. So well done PMDG.And as it's my birthday next week, I really have no excuse.. :( Ian

Well have at it. Buy a million. Thats ridiculous IMHO. Been waiting to see the price before googing and gaugging. I will buy the iFly if over 70.00.
Well it is $69.99, just for you I guess :(

That is very keen pricing, I should think many will be tempted with that. They certainly are not pricing themselves out of the market at any rate.. ..G

that's quite a far-fetched assumption there Dillon
Flight is around the corner and this is a pretty new add-on. There's no reason not to think PMDG won't do everything they can to make sure this add-on works in the new environment if it's possible. The price of admission to FSX is too steep from my current system that I have today (which runs great under W7 64Bit). FSX is a 32Bit program designed for no particular OS which for many has brought allot of problems. Flight will be designed for Windows 7/8 with 64Bit/Multi Core machines in mind. It should run great on machines of the day during release time and be native to 64bit (seeing most new machines sold today come bundled with 64bit because of the large memory size shipping with computers today). For those of you running FSX well my hats off to you, I would rather wait on a FS platform built from the ground up for Windows 7/8 64Bit Duo/Multi Core machines using 12+gigs of RAM.

Dillon,I don't think we should make assumptions about what PMDG and other developers will do with respect to Flight. I would very much like to see the NGX in Flight but that may not happen. You may want to take a look at this post.http://forum.avsim.net/topic/340318-737ngx-for-microsoft-flight-possible/page__view__findpost__p__2025214

Those 70 Dollars sound reasonable, on the first view.Add the variants the iFly already comes with (that's additionally 600 + 700, BBJs, which includes the BBJ3 variant, not coming from PMDG) and you end up at 120 (assuming $24.99 for the BBJs), with the base pack price later increasing to 75 Dollars later, so 125.Talking about more than double the price for the iFly (55 Dollars including taxes) there, no refund option included but you can of course buy such funny things like an 'extended download service' then (assuming this from their former releases). Don't get me wrong, the plane surely is interesting, but the amount of money involved to get the same models as on the iFly is hugely increased and we're not talking about a light system simulation on the cheaper offer, so paying around 130% more may hit some guys hard.Do the maths for your own if you like. :(

This is an initial release price that will be available until the release of the first expansion pack (1-2 months after the base package release.) After this time, the price for the base package will increase to $74.99.
PMDG 737NGX Pricing and AvailabilityBut I'm glad they finally got to a price point for their new thing. So any news is good news there.

Ok, but we're talking about a heck of a lot more systems implemented than iFly. You buy iFly if you want a solid rendition of the 737 NGX. You buy PMDG if you want a ultra-realistic version of the 737 NGX.It's great to have options!

So I take it that you do not find sufficient value in PMDG's offering to justify the price. I'm sorry you will not be purchasing it. I have been eagerly awaiting it for over a year and can't wait to plonk down my money on the NGX

It's actually great to have enough money then.
Ok, so I'll be spending about $15 more for the PMDG version... That would be the cost of my dinner at Olive Garden. I don't care about the other variants as I'll fly the -800 with an N number on vatsim anyway.I't just something you budget for... and I don't go out to eat that often, but OG is one of my favorite places.

Agreed. I only fly the 800 version of the iFly as it stands, so $15 more for the vastly superior (IMO) PMDG? That is a no brainer for me. I flew the iFly again yesterday with the new service pack, and overall it is a decent product that I consistently get 24-30 fps with, but the click spots and interaction with the VC switches (especially in the overhead) are poorly done compared to other products. Once I own the PMDG, I just don't see any advantage with the iFly and will likely retire it.

Guys, I just did some maths which can be easily followed above.I did not force anybody to buy this or do that, I did not take quality, personal viewpoints or anything else subjective into account. That's your part and you are already adding this to your personal equations, which is normal, but not universal. :(

It's amazing just a few weeks ago iFly was the most awesome add-on out there. Now that the PMDG version is close we get comments like this... :Whistle:They say 'Fame is Fleating' but seeing posts like this (which are now cropping up in more than a few places) that's more than an understatment. iFly's rendition is still outstanding and what still puts it on top of all other verions including PMDG is it works in both FSX and FS9 reaching all simmers. In another 12 to 15 months hopefully I can say the same about PMDG's version if 'Flight' proves to be a decent incarnation of Flight Simulator. No matter the bells and whistles the product that reaches the most customers wins. Such is the case with Windows 7 and Apple's Snow Leapard. Windows 7 like XP will reach the widest user base and sell the most because it's not designed for one exclusive high end plateform. I'm not saying the PMDG NGX should be FS9 compatible especially since we have the iFly model, I'm just hoping it's 'Flight' compatible if 'Flight' ends up being the Windows 7 of the FS franchise.

I'm hoping Microsoft doesn't do anything stupid with Flight's ability to imbrace third party development... I'll be using FSX and the NGX at that point.

You can do all the whistling you want - it was a very reasonable comment from Shane. I may whistle as well all day long on your religious belief in 'Flight'. I guess some here found two new religions - one is FS9, another is Flight. :(
