I don't want to take anything from PMDG and the hard work they did with there NGX, but why it wont compare to anything that have been done before ??? and I will compare PMDG 747-400X to the NGX ?? Can anyone please tell me why it's so better from the videos I have seen it flies nice and got nice deep FMC, systems ..etc but as well my PMDG 747X ? I'm not talking about the external visuals or VC cockpit. Thanks. Evan Banalian

I usually stick to my rule that I will not buy a product unless I can read their forums without buying their product and registering first. Closed forums to me says they are hiding something
To be fair, though, most of the time it just means that a company doesn't want to give pirates free support for their stolen products by letting them read the forums without registering.

Before it gets locked, I too failed to heed the warnings of the Ariane eye candy trap, as it looked so good on the website, well I quickly learned not only did I pay way too much, but the buying experience was the worst ever, that and the plane fly's like crap too. I am going to only fly the PMDG MD-11 and the 737NGX and that will be it until the 777 comes out, but it will be strait PMDG for I am very spoiled on the extreme quality and I would rather not fly if I couldn't have my PMDG aircraft.

I also bought this A****ne bug-ridden rubbish, the least flown plane in my hanger- will probably delete it after the PMDG purchase :)Wish I researched it further before buying, but at the time there was no other 737 for the FSX. - still no excuse .

Ah the mods must be away since still not locked ;) yes i one of those who got sucked in the ariane one of my worst decisions ever i made about buying anything. even the ify 737 is way ahead of the ariane products which i have got till the pmdg ngx comes , the ifly is not a bad version of the 737 it has its faults but waiting for the 4th to come than the ifly can go to the scap metal yard nah i couldnt do that lol i just use it now and than

i got suckered in by the 'officially endorsed by boeing' sticker on their website. Actually I got suckered in twice. Which reminds me of a quote 'fool me once, shame on you-fool me twice, shame on ME' i originally purchased the 737-600 for FS9, which was meant to come with various bits and bobs. When I opened the box-nothing. I emailed ariane, and actually a guy called ed did send the missing stuff, which was decent. The a/c itself was nothing great. The LCD screens looked like they had been overlayed on the VC rather than being part of the VC. The refresh rate was horrible too. The same was experienced when i bought the 737-700 X2. I think the biggest annoyance, as already mentioned, was the lack of a decent nav database. I do a lot of flying in scotland in FSX (on account of being scottish) and glasgow is our biggest airport. It has about 10 sids and stars and vor and ILS approaches. Well, not according to the nav database in the A****e. I believe ariane are british run? And they cant even supply a decent nav database for UK/Europe! Fortunately though we have the nav data manager which was promised for years....oh wait. No we dont For me anyway the customer service wasnt too bad, although I know a lot of you have had big problems. It was the product itself that bugged me. Poor VC, and not that usable straight out the box. Plus you cant just install it and fly, you have to wait for them to read your activation email. Still, I hope they change their philosophy because they could put out good products...

I just don't believe it is realistic to compare the NGX to anything that has been previously done. Actually the closest thing that you can compare the NGX to would probably be the A2A Boeing 377 or B17 with Acu-Sim, and since they are such a different class of aircraft, it is still hard to compare.I believe that, as of this Thursday, we are stepping into a new era in desktop flight simulation and there is no looking back (except to the MD11 and J41).
Since I've never owned any PMDG products, and naturally not the NGX, I would be the last to enter into any sort of comparison with other products. I still feel obligated to point out another top notch product, which I had the pleasure to fly: http://www.vrsimulat...om/FA18EFSX.htm In all aspects, flight dynamics, systems realism, graphics, VC, support etc it's absolutely top class. But it's a fighter, so no real comparison.... (And the sweet thing about it is of course carrier op's!!! rock.gif)

Don't forget the FSLabs Concorde. Not as good as my beloved MD11, but comes close. Procedures are a little bit defferent on the Concorde. rock.gif

Hi, what do you think. Does the PMDG need more Fps or the Ariane? Which plane is better for my System? Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 2,8 Ghz Ati Radeon HD 4650 4GB Ram Windows 7 64bit Thank you for answering and sorry for my broken English ;) Greetings from Germany Marco
I dont own the PMDG, but one thing that can be said about the Ariane is that its very good when it comes to framerate and performance.

Have you tried the Leonardo Maddog? Its so far ahead of the curve, full systems modelling with stuff like EGWPS (so-called ground radar), shared cockpit and actual working circuit brakers. In many ways its more complete in the systems department than the PMDG NGX. It is however massively lacking in the graphics department and the framerate is not very good either

Last October I did bought the Ariane B737-700, I was fascinated by the graphics and did not pay much attention to reviews, before saying anything you guys have to assume it might be all my fault...ok, I did the purchase about 120$ if I remember correctly, I waited for the code for three days till it finally arrived, consists of 240 characters!!!, with all the copy right warnings that I got at an e mail, mentioning that there are 10s of people in jail in Europe for violating copy right on the net, I got the code I did the installation, I had three problems, FMC wouldn’t accept the ZFW or fuel weight or something and the VC is extremely low in resolution in an annoying way, finally every time I exited a flight I get CTD ?? and till two month back when I decide to uninstall it and delete it totally from my computer I couldn’t solve these issues, their forum wasn’t working and I never got activation e mail for the forum, never manage to get a single technical support, now I am much happier without their fancy graphics….on contrast I have the MD-11, B747-400/LCF/800i I only had one problem (turned to be my fault) that I submitted one ticket and got answered in few minutes in a friendly way, I didn’t compare models performance .....It’s irrelevant to me I just compared the technical support and sometimes it makes a lot of difference.

It's not that the 744 has anything wrong with it. It's a great simulation, but is not on the same platform as the NGX because it does not have the deep systems that are built into the NGX.It would not be fair to the 744 in comparing it to the NGX because PMDG did not have the knowledge back when they made the 744 as they have today. That is why they are considering remaking the 744 and using what they know today. Most other simulations have to work within the barriers of FSX. With the NGX, PMDG has figured out how to expand those barriers so that the NGX can do things that would not be allowed with FSX previously. That is why it is really not comparing apples to apples to compare anything to the NGX. It is a totally different level of simulation.

Many other (most?) advanced simulations for FSX do this as well, its not just the NGX. This isnt something new, infact, I'm guessing that even PMDGs last couple of planes did this.

Well, I'm just anxious to get this NGX tomorrow and see for myself. I believe that we will all see then why this NGX is so unique.

I bought my 800 X2 a year ago. I installed it and I'd wait about a week for my activation key. Because the FMC was absolutely unfinished, I could'n fly SID's nor STAR's, and I uninstalled it a few weeks after. In December 2010, I decided to reinstall it and take a look again. New key needed, new delay in getting it for a couple of days. Last April, I upgraded my computer, and the 800 X2 stopped working, si I needed another key due to the hardware changes. The communication sequence is this: (their e-mails are completely transcribed). Me: New e-mail to them asking for a new key. Them: "Why a new key?" Me: "Because I've upgraded my computer". Them: "So you will need to purchase another acrivation key" Me: "Are you saying me that everytime I change home or ISP, reinstall Windows or FSX, and change something in my computer, I'll need to purchase a new key?" Them: "Yes, Sir. This is exactly what we say." I can understand that if I lose my downloaded file, I need to purchase a new download, but the fact to lose my liberty about making changes in my computer, or changing my IP address, thats enough for me!!! Conclussion: Two months ago, I deleted all the files related to them from my computer, backup included. I hope they enjoy my 120 €, but now I am happy. Greetings!!! P.D. Sorry for my poor english.
