How do you keep track of installed airports

Featured Replies

In the 5 years that FSX exists, I have collected an enormous amount of addons. Aircraft, environment, utilities and of coarse scenery. Aerosoft's Stavanger X being the latest (since last night :( ).Especially with airport sceneries, I've noticed that I've lost track on what I actually have. I've simply forgotten what I have. The result is that I mainly fly to the recent added airports or the ones that are simply so good, they've stuck in my memory. This leaves at least a 100+ airports left that are installed but never get visited anymore. It made me wondering how other people do this. How do you keep track of all your installed airports? Do you still fly to all of them?I'm sure I'm not the only addict with hundreds and hundreds of installed addons LOL.gif

And you also have to check the appropriate web page to keep track of updates! Yikes!Cheers,- jahman.

I'm making a backup of everything FSX, every developer has his own folder and that also acts like a list of everything I have installed. That's one thing. The other is Google Earth. Every airport I buy I enter into Places in Google Earth under "My Airports" folder I created. So when I don't know where to fly I open GE, activate "My Airports" and voila.. the place marks for all my FSX airports appear and I just pick a pair and go fly.

I have all teh installations for my add-ons in two 64GB flash drives, and I had to recently use them when I bought a new computer. It took a few days

To keep track of what you have and where it is:-SceneryConfigEditorV1.1.0.Then prior to starting up FSim -pick where you intend flying -open up the editor - see if you have scenery for that area and if it is enabled.Do any required actions i.e enable or install new scenery -save changes -start up FS -simple.JohnT

Looks very nice Rafal. What program are you using for that?

No programme, guys.I made the map based on a ready background found in the web and work on it with graphics software (can be anything from MS Paint to PhotoShop). It is very easy and in a few seconds lets me see what scenery I have installed. And is fun to use, too.On the other hand I have a university degree in geography, so maps are my deviation. :( Can't live without them.

I came across something that sounded like the ideal program but I think is has a serious limitation in that the developer did not include any means for printing reports and various sorting of data. I suggested some improvements and he agreed and I have a email stating it was almost ready for testing but that was about a month ago. This has a lot of potential to do what we need to track all our various addons, but needs a good update.Rayhttp://www.ptsioufis...id=48&Itemid=57Once this has a good flexible report writer added it should be an ideal tracker for our addons. I just tried to load mine up and it stated I had a corrupt database file. duh. I spent about two days gatthering all the info up to input this thing.

When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .

I use MS Autoroute Europe and mark all my airports on that. I have also created a 500 mile diameter circle that I use for deciding where to fly to next.It also works for the USA as well.Phil

I do the same thing. There are a couple .kml files on the net that have the majority of the airports in FSX. When I install a new airport, I click the check mark under my places and there it is. I also like using Google Earth because you can overlay weather and measure distance. With ORBX regions, you can download .kml files to display their coverage.

I have a Rand McNally world atlas on my wall that I add stick pins to for every site I buy an add-on for. Low tech? Sure, but it looks pretty cool too.

I did the map thing for a while but I found it too difficult to pin airports that were really close together

The map idea is a good one, I use Google earth its free, very quick and easy to manage. You just add a place mark for each new airport and choose the blue airport icon. The yellow pins are my next purchase!!1.jpg
