September 25, 201213 yr We are all blessed with a slew of "prime time" developers now doing amazing things with FSX addons and aircraft. I think Carenado's immaculate models have raised the bar for everyone else, and as a result, we are getting amazing aircraft in both looks and function. Indeed, a "golden age" of wild creativity. Now if we can just get them all to stop making the same aircraft... Soon, they are going to rename that song "It's Raining Men", to "It's Raining King Airs". LOL. Can't a customer get a 2012-13 Seneca V with G600's for Pete's sake! I think I'm the only one in the world who's not that impressed by the Legacy. A single piston, two pax, mono-wing with the T-Duke panel. T-Duke is better IMHO.
September 25, 201213 yr Why? You're missing one heck of an aircraft... Without doubt the Legacy is one of FSX's all time greats! Do not deny yourself the pleasure. Completely agree... The Lancair is the best G/A that I have used so far...
September 25, 201213 yr Hi, and thanks for the enthusiasm and questions. We are always reluctant to predict how a project will turn out, or what the details are, or when it will happen. We don't like to rush and we never announce until very close to release. What I can tell you is that it is unlikely we will include a glass gauge, the reasons for which are many, but include our view that though GA glass gauges can be great on real aircraft we are not convinced they are particularly practical, or clear, in sim use unless you get very close up to them. We are also aesthetically inclined towards analogue gauges. To us they just look better. Lastly we want our project to reflect a typical flying club or privately owned aircraft, not one that is out of reach of all but wealthy pockets. However that might change and nothing is cast in stone. We have no plans beyond a core project. Our goal is to produce a useable, reasonably realistic sim aircraft which is attractive to use, accurate to fly and pleasant to be in. Beyond that we are open to experimentation and see what comes. Nor will we be rushing to market so we can be ahead of anyone else. We don't work that way. There are lots of fine GA aircraft from different developers and they all have their plusses. We'll just do our best and we're not promising more than that. All the best, Rob - RealAir Robert Young - retired full time developer - see my Nexus Mod Page and my GitHub Mod page
September 25, 201213 yr A steam cockpit will make a lot of folks very happy Rob. I'm sure the many rw 172 drivers here are looking forward to it. Mike Mike Dryden
September 25, 201213 yr A steam cockpit will make a lot of folks very happy Rob. I'm sure the many rw 172 drivers here are looking forward to it. Mike I certainly am, though I'm not a RW pilot, and I am hoping that Real Air's 172 will have a model with wheel pants. Rob? Ken
September 25, 201213 yr Sorry... Hope that didn't come across as condescending to those who aren't! It wasn't intended to. Mike Dryden
September 25, 201213 yr I'm also looking forward to the 172. I'd love to fly it more often in the sim, because I regard it a great GA plane, but the visuals of the default 172 aren't that great too me anymore, at least since I've bought the Legacy! Florian
September 25, 201213 yr Thanks Robert. A direct answer from RealAir was what I hoping for when I woke up the thread. Anthony O'Brien
September 25, 201213 yr Now if we can just get them all to stop making the same aircraft... Soon, they are going to rename that song "It's Raining Men", to "It's Raining King Airs". LOL. I disagree with this, this 'don't step on other developer's toes' attitude is why the best 757 atm remains the CS model, because no-one else is willing to possibly offend LDS who claimed once upon a time to be developing one. And would we really be better off if A2A didn't decide to produce a 172 because of RealAir, or a cherokee because of carenado? iFly were first with the 737NG for FSX, would we really have been better off if PMDG had said 'ok, we'll do something else then'. And at the end of the day, it's the market screaming for better king airs that has created this situation. So we only have ourselves to blame for us loving beech twins.
September 25, 201213 yr Rob, That was a very understated reply. The only thing I hope for are completely different looking gauges to the last three aircraft from the pilots seat. David Murden. September 25, 201213 yr The only thing putting me off buying the Legacy is that my home set-up is based around a yoke as opposed to a stick. I simply can't find the room to comfortably fly with a joystick. Of course I could just use the yoke, nobody would know but me!!!!! Anthony O'Brien
September 25, 201213 yr Rob, That was a very understated reply. It was a reply which contains as much info as we have at the moment. We can only give as much detail as we know ourselves, unless you wanted me to invent something that I don't know about! Cheers, Rob Robert Young - retired full time developer - see my Nexus Mod Page and my GitHub Mod page
September 25, 201213 yr Analog cockpit with the ability to use the RXP unit(s) would be nice. I already have a G1000 equipped 182 (F1) and as much as I like it, I dont need another glass equipped Cessna. September 25, 201213 yr + ....er ...well several ....judging by the above about the traditional "steam" cockpit. As for the debate about who makes what. Well you can only operate one at a time so if the models have different characteristics, skins or even base versions why not get the lot? GA aircraft are a fraction of the price of Jet Liners. I often use the default C172 to explore just because it's easy to fly, has (rather unprototypically for the UK?) an autopilot that allows me to look around new scenery whilst it flies itself and having flown the real thing it's not to bad as far as the flight physics is concerned. Better versions can of course improve on that. Spats, No spats and Spats on mains only seem to be equally common so lets see all of those guys? Also some traditional "Factory" paint jobs and some "custom" or "updated" versions too. Geoff. Geoff Brown
