July 26, 201213 yr Since we are currently arguing heatedly over a $15 plane,. If you consider this arguing heatedly, you've lead a sheltered life. lol Yup ..fabulous marketing strategy. So true! People are basically saying that they would be happier if only Maule was more expensive, and that makes little sense - in rational way. I'm not quite sure how you came up with this line, but it made me laugh. Absolutely no offence intended, I just found it humorous. I don't believe that most of the people here are complaining about the cost of add-ons per say, I think the complaint is with the way MS is handling it. When they came out with Fight, it was FREE, got to love that magic little manipulative word. Then for a small cost (and MS can't even call it that, it's points) I received the rest of the Islands pulse the RV-6 and I felt this was reasonable and I liked the complete plane, ( and in reality there went the free part. lol ). But here with me, they kind of set a precedence. I wanted to get the Maul also, but read some of the complaints about it, so I did not. I waited for Alaska to come and purchased the day it did. Well low and behold if came with an airplane, well in my opinion half an airplane. I expected it to be a complete airplane like we got when me purchase ths rest of the Hawaii Islands. My wrong or bad, however you choose to describe it. I believe that MS management is handling Flight very poorly. Well that my two dollars worth for today, try not to crash unless you want too. PS: There's something I would like to point out here. (the older I get the more I believe life is based on luck...some of us have it and some do not.) Normally money is an object with the majority of us. J. R. :ph34r:
July 26, 201213 yr Author If you consider this arguing heatedly, you've lead a sheltered life. lol The only reason it did not degenerate into the sort of nonsense that we saw so often elsewhere was that the mods took a stand early and have enforced it vigilantly.... much to some others chagrin. As for a sheltered life. I hope so! I am glad that a lot of the nastiness brought into this whole sorry episode the last few months was and remains alien to me. I hope it remains so. July 26, 201213 yr I purchased this at full price and ten mins later it was available on steam at 25% discount, but no matter, I love this little baby - I shall be using this extensively alongside my over-used Maule. The Flight Team have done a great job on this model, it's a shame that they've been shut down, because this plane gives us a glimpse of what could have been. BUY IT - it breathes life into Alaska - and will add months to your Flight enjoyment.
July 27, 201213 yr BUY IT - it breathes life into Alaska - and will add months to your Flight enjoyment. You are probably right, but I am pretty bummed out and I did not get a chance to grab this yesterday , and with the news of the day today I just don't know, I have mixed emotions about buying it now. I have to wonder about their timing, release a new VC plane for sale on Wed, then on Thurs morning announce the end of Flight... Don B
July 27, 201213 yr release a new VC plane for sale on Wed, then on Thurs morning announce the end of Flight In USA time terms, it was "release a new VC plane Wednesday morning, then Wednesday close of business you shut down flight." The announcements came an hour later. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

If I had knows all this, I would never ever have bought the Cub. I do not regret the money I spend on earlier DLC because it gave me a lot of fun, but I do regret buying the Cub because now it will only give me a bad taste in the mouth. And it IS too darned slow too.

I really enjoyed MS FLIGHT, and bought the Cub pit hours before knowing about the fate of the MS FLIGHT project. I regret having spent so many time for nothing with this great sim, having built a few expectations for future development, particularly very recently when an interview with some member of the team was published - this is something that I really can't accept very well because I feel they made a fool of me! Uninstalled MS FLIGHT and I only regret not being able to cancel my account at xbox. Simply knowing my DLCs remain there is uncomfortable for me! I will move on to another sim platform sooner or later. XPlane10 might be an option, but it is very expensive and still plagued with too many problems that always irritated me and I never saw being addressed by the dev team. LM Prepar3d looks promissing, and installing it would even allow for re-use of a few add-ons from fsx, including FSUIPC, my LevelD767 and the RealAir Siai SF 260 :-) yet, I would have to invest at least in AS2012 to get an acceptable meteo environment... I look fwd for what their upcoming 1.4 patch brings, and also for v2.0, although I seriously believe they will most probably leave out the flight dynamics model in v2 and make the platform open to 3pd FDs that can be plugged in to the v2 environment/scenery thus making LM Prepar3dv2 more of a World Env for simulation... Meanwhile an investment in v1.3/1.4 under the "Academic" license is no big deal in terms of $$$ There is DCS p-51/ka-50. I have always asked for a detailed helicopter simulation, and never found one.... DCS k-50 is a military aircraft to be flown on a military theater, that's my only problem regarding DCS World v2 :-( I'll let you know when I make my mind.... Nobody likes to feel that they have been had, and the lukewarm way that flight was marketed (was it marketed?) and handled gave many the feeling that Microsoft was not even trying. Now, with this, we have to wonder if they ever intended to be serious with this, or was the decision made long ago to get out all the existing stuff, tidy things up and close shop. As you said, its disturbing, and my feelings are also a bit roiled. I am likewise ambivalent as well in returning to the happy status quo. Maybe after the disappointment wears away a bit I will be able to think on a more even keel about all this, but as much as Microsoft has left a bitter taste, there are other things to consider as well about the post few months. i do know that your enthusiasm will be missed, should you leave this forum. July 27, 201213 yr Flight got me back into flying sims, and I thank them for that . I bought the CC after I heard Flight was shut down so now my package of dlx aircraft is complete. I also don't feel I've been had, I got what I paid for and I will continue to use it. More I use it, the cheaper the investment and more bang for my enjoyment dollar. I just won't ne able to fly over to Russia or into BC I think imagination and a creative multiplayer community will keep a lot of you flying Flight instead of letting it just sit on the hard drive. Rob Otto
July 27, 201213 yr Flight instead of letting it just sit on the hard drive. wiped mine, together with Windows Live Essentials from my HD :-) Feeling better.... I would gladly migrate to Linux too... Xplane runs under Linux!!! and so does Flight Gear, Silent Wings :-)... Unfortunately it doesn't run ELITE :-( Just to think I invested in Windows7 just because of this MS FLIGHT Flop! Damn! Today I am REALLY MAD!!!!! Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
July 27, 201213 yr Just to think I invested in Windows7 just because of this MS FLIGHT Flop! Damn! Today I am REALLY MAD!!!!! Emotionally I can understand that but right now I seem to be getting way more instant gratification from Flight as compared to xplane. I fly low and slow and right now and basic xplane scenery looks like Godzilla, Mothra and Megaguirius just flew in and had a massive terraforming party . I fly fsx with a few inexpensive but quality add-ons and I fly Flight. Right now I absolutely dread firing up xplane. Go to that big airport not far from Rio and you'll see what I mean. Heck go to just about any airport and you'll be in for a big disappointment. I have the latest release candidate for xplane too. True I'm in a holding pattern in which sim I want to invest in but I'm flying for the moment and Flight gives me the same pleasure today as it did yesterday. Rob Otto
July 27, 201213 yr making LM Prepar3dv2 more of a World Env for simulation From what I know about the P3D project and what I know about LM from my past and current work experiences, I do believe this is their goal... a more or less modular simulation platform that's adaptable to a customer's needs, not a flight simulation itself. It's simply P3D's foundation in ESP and compatibility with FSX add-ons that makes it a ready-made flight sim.
July 27, 201213 yr ...There is DCS p-51/ka-50. I have always asked for a detailed helicopter simulation, and never found one.... DCS k-50 is a military aircraft to be flown on a military theater, that's my only problem regarding DCS World v2 :-( IRIS is processing their BD-5 for the DCS World. So, I think it is possible to make a civilian helicopter also. It may be possible to make a scenery also. The DCS World is a militry world, but we are not bound to fly military missions:)
July 27, 201213 yr Moderator For those who feel "cheated," consider that even the dev staff working on Flight were totally BLINDSIDED by this abrupt decision to shut down the Flight project! We were working hard on Flight right up until we were told yesterday. Thanks for your participation and help in the beta and post-launch to make Flight better. So, please be careful when using the nebulous "they" in casting blame... ...arrows of frustration should be aimed at the right target; those ubiquitous "Men in Black" (okay, maybe "Corporate Grey" would be more apropos), the "Bean Counters" who make the decisions, and not the poor modelers, artists and programmers who -just like us- were caught like deer in headlights. July 27, 201213 yr I grabbed DCS: Black Shark for $5 during the Steam sale and will be testing it out. If I like what I find with the Ka-50, I'll pay the $20 upgrade to 2.0. I also grabbed the A-10 for $16, I think, and will be getting into that. I'm already very familiar with a good bit of the avionics and aircraft systems, but I haven't gotten into any military combat sims since Falcon 3.0, I think. Meh. I'll see how it goes.
