The big Carbon Cub topic

Featured Replies

Its why I dropped out of the subject a bit back. I am willing to follow the conversation and all, and will comment on other stuff, but I am personally done with the price thing.

I am in total agreement there. I have said enough for awhile, some strong emotions here on both ends of the spectrum today.

Agree with you guys!

Come on! What is so hard to understand that prices go up when the demand is high? That is it...the entire world economy works like that!

Maybe someone should create a post "World Economy and Market Principles for MS Flight"! :Monkey:

Just kidding.......ppleeaasseee don´t!

Well, it appears that we may be winding down with all the great discussions on either purchasing a VC or not. It appears from my perspective for those of us that have not made the $14.95 purchase we have a few choices we can consider.

1. We can go ahead and buy with a great big smile and enjoy conversing with others on what is good and bad and even learn how to work all the new goodies not found in the basic model w/o the VC.

2. Or we can purchase with a “stick on our shoulder” saying we are really upset the way this deal was handled but I am going ahead and shell out my hard earned money and buy the fool thing.

3. Then there is always a possibility that sometime Steam will sell individual ad-ons at an introductory discount price, which they have done on several Train Simulator add-ons.

4. And finally those who really want to buy but just will not because “I am not going to buy at this price” there is hope. You can wait until Christmas time when Steam will have another Big sale or they could do a small sale half way between now and Christmas. Of course then the Cub may not have all the excitement it now has (good or bad) plus I guess it will be pretty darn cold in Alaska during that time of the year.

What am I going to do? Heck I really don’t know at this point. I think I will take that “little sucker”out for a flight and stand on the wings until I freeze to death and then I may think I had better get the VC so I can stay inside the this “little puppy”.

Just some thoughts,

Happy flying,

Carl

I remember when flight sims did have a mass market, and so to many of the folks here. Of course, in those days, the market was a little less massive.

There is always a flurry of negativity when something new is released for Flight. It will die down eventualy.

Flying the Cub is a very different expreience, quite unlike any other plane in Flight. It's worth $15 just for that. If you don't believe that and don't want to spring for the $15, try the basic model you already have with Alaska. Move the eyepoint back and pretend you're in a real cockpit.

If you think it's too slow, try a sailplane: 64 knots minimum sink speed, although you can trade altitude for speed if you have excess. Or a helicopter, about 80 knots. The Stearman is only a few knots faster, but the airspeed indicator is calibrated in miles per hour, not knots, so people think it's a lot faster.

Are you kidding, this "discussion" will go on for days and says......

I'm going with the group that thinks the Maule is a better fit. Alaska came with the cub but I haven't even rolled it out since it was an empty shell and I want to fly the plane. The Maule has been a lot of fun once I learned to fly it and has the gauges and instruments I need to give me a real feeling of flying the plane. Alaska is wonderful scenery but I sure hope MS brings in ATC and adds some living things to the sim.

Can't work out why people think that under £10 is expensive. Look at this in comparison to other entertainment.

such as Premier league football match (soccer) £30 upwards for less than 2 hours, a months television about £70.

It's about the average price of 3 pints of beer. this to me makes it very cheap for hours of entertainment.

I have already got five hours of entertainment from it, so 15/5 = 3. Only $3.00 per hour so far :P

Lol. 25% off the CC on Steam.

Yes, I really do question MS marketing strategy.

I am surprised at the price tag for the deluxe version of the Cub since it does not include a version with ski's or floats; but I will be getting it in a little while since 1) I want a working cockpit with the Cub, a plane I enjoy especially in the Alaskan setting, and 2) I want to support the effort to give us a new plane with a working cockpit.

As others have stated $14.99 is not that much to pay for a new plane considering what 3rd party developers charge for new planes for FS9/FSX; but as others have also stated for the same $14.99 you got the Maule with a lot more functionality instrument wise than you are getting with the Cub, so in that respect the price does seem a little high. Nevertheless I will pay the price anyway and consider it money well spent for the pleasure I'll get from it.

Now, if in a month they post a new Cub with floats and want to charge $14.99 for that, well that's where I'll draw a line and say no with my wallet. In my opinion if they are going to put out a new plane like the Cub with different versions like the tundra tires, floats and ski's you should get the whole bundle for one price for that one version of an aircraft. I'm not suggesting they are going to do that, but if they did I'd have to say no thanks.

MS, Marketing, and Strategy dont belong in the same sentence unless "has no" is included.

Where are these "venom" posts you all keep talking about of people "spewing hatred" because "the Cub isn't free"? Is Jeroen deleting those or something? What am I missing?

Everyone happy now? Or will we think of something else?

And they even managed to get it out on steam on the same day. Sneaky.

Well I guess the discussions will continue now that Steam has added it with a 25% discount. That helped some.

Now I can fly in the cockpit...would it be wishful thinking for a free float add on?

I could understand the price if floats and skis were also included along with the VC, but $14.99 just for the VC, that too for a Carbon Cub, I don't understand...

Still gonna buy it through steam where it is a little cheaper, to support VC planes

Now that is a price somewhat more in line with the other DLC pricing.
