Lots of people did.

I have too.

And by god MS is going to see that you spend thousands on Flight, and are going to get it ALL!

I apologize I just coulden't resist.

However with the add-ons to other flightsims, you had the whole world to fly in.

Oh yeah by the way, free is just a state of mind, the only thing that is free is the word (free) itself, or free is just another four letter starting with "f".

I pleed insanity, I'm just crazy about flying!

As mentioned more than once it's not the dollar value it's the lack of marketing strategy by MS.

Hello Mike! I sincerely respect and understand your opinion. We as costumers, really don´t like to wait a month for a virtual cockpit, or buy something that we know will be half price 2 days later! I is almost frustrating...almost!

In the other hand, technically speaking, their marketing strategy, from MS point of view, is really really good. I wish i had a company that days before i release a little tiny product (compared to everything that MS does), my costumers end up speculating in forums, communities, etc. And it is not just that...their marketing strategy was so good that almost every simmer, that regularly play the game of course, bought their product almost instantaneously! If you look at the posts there were people desperate looking at the marketplace minutes before the release...and i bet most of them bought the dlc without even thinking about the price, even though it is true that a lot of people really can´t afford to buy them without thinking.

Anyways...from the marketing point of view that is genius...sadly for us!

Honestly the dollar amounts for Flight DLC would have to increase dramatically before the prices became a serious issue for me. Considered strictly from how much time I spend using these things I get my money's worth in the first weekend I have them, and then some.

Flight DLC is cheap... from a flight-simulation add-on perspective.

But the flight-simulation add-on audience is not the one MS claims to be going after, here. Those of us they capture are simply icing on the cake. Now, I don't think their plan to draw in "millions of casual gamers" has a snowflake's chance in H... uh, Hawaii, but that is their publicized marketing plan.

To capture that audience, single-dollar DLC pricing is a must, especially for things like airplanes. Scenery DLC may command a higher price, as it will be viewed as an "expansion" by a gamer rather than just another add-on, but even then prices commanded by game expansion DLC doesn't approach flight-simulation add-on scenery pricing.

MS chose to target an audience that puts a far higher consideration on price than the "old" FS-series audience. Traditional flight-simulation enthusiast pricing is relevant to us, but not to the majority of Flight's target audience.

The plane has an real high def feel over it: it looks pretty good and detailed, very sharp, but maybe that's also due to the modern appearance.

It's simply awesome yes!

We can also finally use proper leaning techniques using the tachometer! Try leaning at say, 6000' and see the correct effect on the prop RPM!

Great add-on!

Flying gliders since 1980

Flightsimming since 1992

AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

What does any of this stuff have to do with a fun little airplane to fly? I for one will not shoot myself in the foot just to stand on some lofly principle. I rather just go flying.

Some folks like to get wound up of the most trivial things.

Flight sims will never have a mass market, unless it is a battle game on an X-box or Tablet.

Yep. Just flying around is "too boring" it seems.

But that's Microsoft's "Grand Plan."

Bought it. Like it. Something different. (Haven't flown the basic version so I can't and won't compare.) What I do like (for instance) is the new radio: it even has some (DRUM ROLL...) FEATURES!

1. When you set a VOR and have NAV enabled, you see the DME information on the left (nothing special) but when you click on the SEL button, you see the Direct to course, so the heading you need to fly to fly directly to the VOR station, without having to turn the OBS at ALL. I like that! Add or substract 180 and you also immediately know on which radial you are. Again, without having to turn the OBS knob.

2. When you press the OBS button you get a digital readout of your current OBS setting. Nice but not as nice as the SEL option.

All in all it incomparable with the Maule, really... It's truly something different. Not the plane I was hoping for, let that be clear, but I am happy to have it in my hangar!

BTW This plane almost seems to take off like a heli...!!!

Tutorial ????

Oh yeah! I'm no real life pilot, but i think it is the first dlc plane where the fuel mixture that have a really noticeable effect...not to mention that now i have something new to figure out, like the carb heat and how to make a full use of the digital gps/radio! I really don´t use those instruments in real life, apart from a simple gps! Well, it is always good to learn!

And traffic. All kinds of traffic like boats, cars and planes. I love flying low and slow looking at the cars on the road in FSX and XPlane even has trains which make it even cooler for us low and slow types.

Its interesting people are complaining about the price when you could have had almost everything for what some of us paid for Hawaii. Steam had a great deal here a couple weeks ago and if you missed it it's your fault. I already owned em so for me it was a mute issue but am i mad they did it? nope cus I grabbed a couple items i gave to friends and also had a couple friends buy the packages to play along with me. So its a win win.

Got it, full price, it is excellent, I could not wait. What is nice is I will be one of the few who have it for a while, until the sale, then it will proliferate more. But, one group that will never have it, is the low brow people who pirate.

Yes, I would like something a bit faster, not jets please

When they released MS Flight, i was quite mad because they did´t add a jet to the game...but, you know...what´s the point of making a great scenery for us to fly by a beautiful waterfall at mach 1, using autopilot? Maybe later it will be nice to fly from Alaska to Hawaii in a jet...but i still have to complete my "all airport journey"!

By the way, i just tried the new Carbon Cub using a 3D software and glasses!! ahhnnnn...just...wowww! :Hypnotized:

PS: If this turns to be a "should have had" post...there goes my idea: "Next plane should come with a coupon for us to buy a fan to place strait at your faces"...you know...it would make it more realistic! :P

I've owned and flown every version of Flight Simulator since the Sublogic days on a Commodore 64 and have yet to spend "thousands" of dollars on flight simming. I've spent way more than that flying for real and don't regret it. I just don't understand that argument every time it comes up. No one has forced anyone to spend huge sums of money to get any FS program running. I have always had middle of the road systems until my last build and have been satisfied for the most part with performance. That being said, I have done a good bit of tweaking in the past on both FS9 and FSX but without a major capital outlay.

I said I would purchase a full VC release when it came, and I have done just that. I am hoping that MS will see a respectable response from this and will get away from half airplanes. It's going to take the support of the community for this to happen, however.

All in all, I'm not going to get heartburn over their marketing practices or prices even though I try to be careful with my funds. Momma don't like it when I get spend happy.

The only voice we as a community have in this is to vote with our dollars. If you don't like something, nobody is holding a gun to your head and making you buy it. If you do like it, then by all means, get it and enjoy. After all, isn't this supposed to be about fun?

Spewing venom about what you think the price should be, or how the DLC is delivered, or MS time frames, or Steam, or various and sundry other issues won't solve anything and will only result in an increase in blood pressure.

So chill out and have a good time with whatever sim or game you like. It doesn't have to be Flight. But for some of us, it is.

Thank you.

Its why I dropped out of the subject a bit back. I am willing to follow the conversation and all, and will comment on other stuff, but I am personally done with the price thing.

I am in total agreement there. I have said enough for awhile, some strong emotions here on both ends of the spectrum today.
