Featured Replies

Sara, have you guys (the McPhat team) confirmed a blurry overhead bug, even when in 4096 TML?

I can confirm that, It's to do with MIP maps,

It seems running at higher resolutions it's less of a problem,

The boss himself is looking at settings for it for correction.

The final updates / patches will of course be through Coolsky / Flight One.

I'm not on those forums at present so no idea when I'm afraid.

I do know however that Espen is feverishly working away at it, and we are making texture changes as brought up :)

Is the Heading the same as FSX variable, so we can use the Saiteck panel and add also the Delco Carousel IV-A INS.

Hi Simbio,

I use the Saitek's to, I just tried them and here's what I got...

Course works as normal on the multifunction panel, as do the radio functions on the radio panel including DME.

The heading works, but you need to switch the attitude director to N/L (Nav Loc) for it to control heading,

Whereas the simulator you use HDG on the Attitude Director, and Heading On on the Autopilot Panel.

That's the only difference I can see without further testing.

I don't know if anyone else had tried, might be worth checking the Coolsky Forum.

Thank' s, Ok so you can drive the HDG with what ever tools Hardware\Software, you can even use VASFMC in this way.

The Coolsky Forum is only for license member so it's difficult to ask.

I only fly add-on aircraft in FS9 and FSX, so naturally I've spent a lot of money on airplanes. I've been looking forward to this one for more than a year. I worked for USAir (Allegheny) when they had these DC-9s and was fortunate to fly in the cockpit a few times.

I purchased it yseterday and went through a cold and dark start-up and took it up for a bit. I did think the earlier posters that were slagging the plane were probably the usual "nothing ever satisfies" types and I didn't pay too much attention.

But, I have asked for a refund. I lost my job earlier this year, and if I'm going to spend $50 for an airplane it has to meet certain minimum standards. There are just way too many things wrong - the top beacon being one simple example - and going through the checklists showed lots of things that weren't quite right.

I do own the MD Super 80 and LOVE that airplane.

If the bugs get worked out I'll be back.

What this means is that something is conflicting with the DC9. I don't know what it is just yet, but I've backed up my entire FSX install and I'm going to start adding stuff back piece by piece, stuff like REX, the various Orbx libraries, Radar Contact, Accufeel, Aircraft and so on and so on. I'll let you know if I find one that suddenly breaks it, then we know which addon is causing the conflict.

Froogle, were you able to pinpoint which addon was causing the trouble?

Not yet. I had work to do with this aircraft and that delayed me re-installing a bunch of stuff. I will return to the problem this evening.

Well, I hate to say it, but I've got pretty much everything re-installed now, and the frame rate is up - mid 30's for me. Which would imply the solution for those of you with frame rate issues would be (yuck) uninstall FSX and reinstall it, and that's a terrible bit of advice to give, but it certainly worked for me. Addons installed: Too many aircraft to mention, including the PMDG NGX (which installs it's own preferred version of Direct X so I thought that might be a contender), the RealAir dukes, etc etc, Radar Contact 4, My Traffic Pro, Rex Essential, EZDoc Camera, OrbX Pacific Northwest and various regional airports.

Sounds promising.... ^_^

But, I have asked for a refund

Ignoring serial praisers pays dividends as well sometimes. Watch out for the next "fantastic", "incredible" (coming from the same users) and consider staying away.Seriously I hope you have better luck with your next purchase.

That's a lot of words and no real substance. The beacon doesn't look right? This is what makes you ask for a refund? What exactly wasn't right?

Do you want to go down the list of bug fixes for all the patches PMDG has released for their aircraft?

Sounds like some people who worked on this plane are in the forums. Makes sense don't it?

Who cares anyway, this is Flight 1 product so you can always try yourself and then get refund if it doesn't meet your expectations unlike with Captain Sim and others who sell you a product full of flaws and then your only option is to wait 3 years that it takes from them to release enough patches to fix it.

Pretty much every complex airliner addon has had some serious bugs right after release and this one is not exception and is at least flyable unlike many other recent releases. As long as the developer is going to fix them in time there is nothing to complain here.

From around 70 payware aircraft that I own this goes definitely to the top 5.

The plane seems like a good effort from a developer that hasn't been too visible in recent years. I respect that, and I'm not trying to knock this plane down too much, but the praise here seems to be going a little bit too far. Some balance is needed. There are a lot of average planes out there and after this one goes through its teething pains I think this can possibly be better than average. But Top 5? You mean up there with PMDG and Flight Sim Labs? That is quite an extraordinary claim and I couldn't disagree more. Now that I finally have it, I'm still on the fence about whether I'll actually return it, but it definitely is not something that I think I'll ever fly much unless the improvements are massive.
