Does that include the service packs and SDK? Perhaps AVSIM could be allowed to host these files now?

Check the library. We already are.

Support, that's a laugh........I won't get into particulars, but they never were very good about support, at least for me. And I am talking phone calls at my expense at night when most MS employees were home watching T.V. Thanks for giving all of us a great "game" MS, that you get high marks for...

Wow... such over reaction to nothing!

You know what MS just did?? They saved you from "well, did you turn your computer off... then back on again?" customer support.

Don't sweat it.

Edit: MS already stated that activation would run forever, after FLIGHT raised scares about this very thing.

As long as activation still works, FSX still works, simple as that. If you buy a product you buy it forever and not for a few years until that company shuts down the activation server.

That's pretty much how I feel about it.

This is kind of related to activation, but Windows XP is in a similar situation where you there's no support after 2014, but you can still activate it. Pretty much the same should be true for FSX.

Avsim is the best support for all flightsims  :drinks:

P3D will do just fine. Getting hung up on this licensing stuff is silly. It will be flourishing I bet when V2 drops. XP10 has a lot to refine before I even entertain dropping FSX.

It is silly following what the license legally covers. Really, when you think about it, why should I even need to pay for it? It's just a license.

Front page news just posted:

In an email sent to a variety of flight simming sites today, Microsoft announced that Customer Support for FSX has expired...

Meh...

The only thing that would upset me was if their activation servers stopped and we couldn't reinstall/reactivate the software. Other than that I'll be using FSX for a few more years.

The funny part is that most everyone thought this happened years ago..

It's like getting a "your warranty is about to run out" notice after you sold the car years ago.

Ah twisting words to try and force a point good job. Where did I say to not pay for it hmm? When LM themselves reach out to developers for fun then where does that fall?

FSX is still living on my system  ....I haven't given up...

Maby they are trying to punish us for making Flight a Flop lol

I would think in a few more years it will have mostly run it's course and be a dead horse, what with people moving on to new and possibly incompatible OS's by that time. Once that issue begins to knock upon our doors and minds, the 3rd party devs will be forced out or to another platform.

Yes, there will be some of us who will, for as long as possible, hold onto a Win7 machine so they can keep FSX running....but nevertheless, the ultimate demise of FSX is inevitable and clearly in sight.

Something needs to be done...something BIG.

Jennifer Paige, has obviously never heard of Avsim! :P
