December 14, 201213 yr Will the Highmemfix and the affinitymask tweaks affect fsx in both winxp 64bit or win7 64bit or just one of the operating systems?
December 14, 201213 yr As far as I know, HIGH MEM FIX will benefit any system running FSX. ...and Affinity Stuff is related to multiple cores and threads.... but as said above, I'm skeptical of that one personally. I reckon that unless you are running lots of other processes in the background to FSX, it's a bit of snake oil. That's just my experience though.
December 14, 201213 yr FPS... but how about image quality, blurs, stutters, etc ? Maybe FPS isn't the only objective for .cfg tweaks.
December 14, 201213 yr What driver are you using for the ATI card? Once I started using the beta driver 12.11 I was able to remove all tweaks (including shader mod 3.0) except for HIGHMEMFIX, poolsize=0, and Affinitymask. I don't have fps numbers but I can tell you the overall smoothness and performance is much better. Now take note the 12.11 driver will only benefit AMD 7000 series graphics cards. December 14, 201213 yr Which operating system is being used now by the majority of simmers - Winxp 64bit or win7 64 bit and which one seems to be resulting in the best overall performance concerning smoothness or fps ?

December 14, 201213 yr Maybe this happens becouse of ATI card, or maybe some tweaks are not well performed(just a though). I'm curious, in scenario 3, how did you set the bufferpools tweak? It's imposible to get lower FPS with correct bufferpools tweak vs default FSX.CFG Zeljko Budovic
December 14, 201213 yr FPS... but how about image quality, blurs, stutters, etc ? Maybe FPS isn't the only objective for .cfg tweaks. Exactly the same question as Post #12 ........ and the reply is exactly the same as in Post #14... I'll try again and see if people notice it this time... - no difference in visuals, except some tiny stutters in the two tweaked versions. Not sure of CCC version, but I'm personally using a 5770 card, rather than a 7000 series.
December 14, 201213 yr I am not that interested in FPS as I am with smoothness and the quality of the visuals. I would rather have 20 FPS with no blurries and microstutters, than 50 FPS and sub-standard smoothness and visual quality. Bob Officially retired
December 14, 201213 yr Couldn't resist giving this a bash. Preliminary results are far from scientific but appear to be in the right direction. When loading FSX for the first time their was an apparent 10% increase in FPS but due to enthusiasm and restarting the app many times I was unable to re-create my initial results. It's almost as though FSX performs best when run from cold so to speak. Has anyone else experienced this phenomena? or is it just my 'feeling'.

December 15, 201213 yr Not quite a Macintosh to Granny Smith comparison... Bojote's tweaks are geared towards running with frames set to unlimited (with an external frame rate limiter), hence the very high TML load values.
December 15, 201213 yr Interesting info Dylan I did not know that very uesfull info, thanks. Rich Sennett
December 15, 201213 yr Commercial Member As in Real Estate it's all about location, location, location! FSX is not a static entity so you will need to conduct your test in a variety of situations, like dense clouds, high scenery areas (aka ORBX), high traffic settings (aka UT2 at KSFO), high, medium and low altitudes, high medium and low autogen areas, over water and on and on. Then once a baseline is established start factoring in different hardware as in fast, slow memory, GPU's and CPU's. In the end as it has been said many times before FPS is a poor way to gauge the FSX experience as the only thing that matters is smoothness with decent scenery fillrates and excellent graphic quality. Ponder this, on my system my FPS are 250+ over the ocean with an under plane view and 16 sitting at a parking spot at KSFO. In both cases smoothness is similar. Go figure and forget about FPS.
