DX10 with bloom enable....look like it?

Nope, its DX9 with the JV enb file. He's very specific about it!

anything that Holger Sandman or Bill Womack make are always worth getting especially as these geographic areas are their expertise. make sure also to get Tongass Fjords X (which is needed to connect SAK to PFJ)

What's the matter with the coverage map? I've tried to open it with pc, mobile and ipad with no success. Is this area up to Anchorage?

The .kmz coverage map works fine for me on my PC. The scenery extends from Cook Inlet south and east to the Juneau area, and it's beautiful.

Framerates around PANC (Simwings scenery) are good with a bit of a slow-down in the immediate terminal area, but on my machine, all was still smooth enough for me.

No to the first question and yes to the second.

Orbx regions are a combination of custom mesh, textures, hand optimized landclass and autogen, photo scenery integration, upgraded default airports (they're even integrating some of their "flows" at many of these now, with people walking around, working on aircraft, flags flying in the breeze...) and so on.  An Orbx region is much, much more than what "Global" will bring.

Scott

I don't think anyone can explain the difference better than what has been said many times. So I'll just cut to the bottom line and say there will be a huge difference. FTX Global will not give you most of what is in a FTX region. It will basically give you different generic textures, like GEX, layered over whatever landclass and mesh you have (default, or UTX, etc). An FTX region adds specific textures, including many PR textures, on top of fully custom mesh and landclass, with updated airports, custom autogen, including many POI and landmarks. There's a reason each region takes a year or more. How could anyone think that the whole world could be done in that same time and be the same?

Edit: Scott beat me while I was typing.

What are framerates like? Especially around Anchorage. With Simwings PANC would be nice to see too.

Performance is excellent day or night. This scenery is stunning. Check out my pics at the FTX forums.

LOL you are now just clouding the issue with logic! I think the community driven hype machine has firmly taken hold of FTX Global now and is generating totally unrealistic expectations.

I'm pretty certain there are plenty of people out there who think that FTX Global will transform the entire world into an FTX region level of detail. They will hand over their credit card details, download, install, load up the sim, realise it doesn't do what they thought it would do, and hit this forum (and others) to start complaining.

Mark my words :)

BTW, purchased SAK last night but the download was very slow so I cancelled it and re-downloaded this morning. I've now got it installed but haven't had the time to check it out yet. I'm looking forward to taking my FR Super Cub for an exploratory flight or three.
