May 8, 201313 yr I've got my hands full with FSUIPC and EZDOK going on at the same time. I know two assignments shouldn't be programed on the same button/key. In FSUIPC I went through every key and button and uninstalled all assignments to start fresh. Did my EZDOK thing, that was successful. Then I went back to FSUIPC to assign joystick / key assignments for controls. The result is controls that I don't want. Example; when I press the lower trigger on the Saitek Joystick for the brakes that I assigned, the screen freezes and I see slew in the lower right hand corner of the screen. When I press the key board button for slew, I have to press another button to stop it and a third button to start up again. I've gone back and forth between FSX and FSUIPC to check and make sure nothing is conflicting. Wouldn't it be easier if I just had FSX controls? I know many of you think of FSUIPC as the Holy Grail, but right now I see it as a pain in the tail. Is FSUIPC really worth it? Can we live without it?
May 8, 201313 yr You sure it is FSUIPC that is causing the double assignment ? Often many keys will be assigned on a joystick as soon as you plug it in. Peter Peter Schluter
May 8, 201313 yr For me FSUIPC + WideFS allows me to do things I just can't any other way. Sounds like you have an assignment clash, so check in FSX too.
May 8, 201313 yr suppose you got the email stating you need to re install fsuipc again I7-8700k,Corsair h1101 cooler ,Asus Strix Gaming Intel Z370 S11 motherboard, Corsair 32gb ramDD4,, gtx 1080ti Card, RM850 power supply Peter kelberg
May 8, 201313 yr You are quite simply going to need either the registered (if you like to tweak--as you seem to do) or unregistered version of FSUIPC. Once you move beyond as FSX/FS-9 basic install the program is the default interface for many add-ons so that they can interact with your flight sim. If you uninstall FSUetc some add-ons will cease to operate. Add-ons that require FSUIPC will install an unregistered version, which will be fine as far as it goes. But yes, one way or another, you need FSUIPC. Dan George (woodhick)Check out Greenbrier Aero Club, the VA for and about the GA pilot.
May 8, 201313 yr Is FSUIPC really worth it? Can we live without it? I've been flying without FSUIPC for 'decades' and never really missed it. So yes, you can live without it. However, I did install the free version last year because of the implementend anti-crash feature... I don't need all the extra features the full versions gives you though and I doubt if I ever will: hence I still use the unregistered version. About the unregistered version of FSUIPC being installed with certain add ons: is that still so...? I can't remember having an add-on (at least in FSX) that automatically installed FSUIPC. Nor having an add-on that stopped working without FSUIPC...
May 8, 201313 yr I can't remember having an add-on (at least in FSX) that automatically installed FSUIPC. Nor having an add-on that stopped working without FSUIPC... To the very best of my knowledge, Active Sky uses and has always used FSUIPC as an interface. Dan George (woodhick)Check out Greenbrier Aero Club, the VA for and about the GA pilot.
May 8, 201313 yr Is FSUIPC really worth it? Can we live without it? Yes and Yes. Yes, it worth it, and Yes, we live without it - but with FSUIPC is much better. It's not only about better calibration and many posibilities to assign your controls. FSUIPC has many things that makes fsx more stable. And the many payware planes can't work without FSUIPC. BTW, i never had a problem caused by FSUIPC, but i had many problems solved by FSUIPC. For me is on the top of "must have" utilities Zeljko Budovic
May 8, 201313 yr Bought it and use it in the past but my flying style really does not suit me and perfer default as it suits me fine. FSIUPIC good to have for more complicated flight setups.
May 8, 201313 yr In addition to the several neat functions which Pete has added on over the years, FSUIPC is absolutely outstanding for the simflier who uses multiple controllers, or separate controllers for different aircraft. The ability to profile the engine controls for a particular type of aircraft - such as a Milviz Cessna 310 makes it so easy to change aircraft without the grief of re-setting the "Settings --> Controls --> Engines", only to find that the mouse look, Mouse View or other controllers also now affect those same engine controls. It also has hundreds of controls that can be mapped to almost any button or axis that one might have, this allowing one to "clean up" the keys that are listed in the original "Controls --> Settings" dialogue in FSX (such as the F1 - F8 keys). Most, if not all of those can now be re-mapped to the buttons on your external controllers, like those found here, an example of a "Standard.xml" clean-up being here. Once you get a grip on FSUIPC, the sim becomes even better. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
May 8, 201313 yr Commercial Member Yep, very few add-ons I can say I need for every time I fly but FSUIPC is one of them. It runs all my hardware. Have dozens of different profiles set up to match my varied aircraft. Been using them for nearly 10 years. That and TrackIR are a must in my book. May 8, 201313 yr Of course you can live without it - unless you're using an add-on that requires it. If you have any complexity in hardware, and/or fly multiple aircraft however, I think it's indispensable. It's one of those products I hesitated buying for some time, and then when I did (and got it figured out) I whacked myself for waiting so long as it made things easier/better/more elegant. It also solved a specific pain in the neck calibration issue with my Saitek yoke. Be aware that if you plug and replug USB controllers into different ports, FSX will take them back over and you'll get weird double-mappings. If you're getting wierd button responses, the first place to look is to see if your controller has been re-activated in FSX. Scott
May 8, 201313 yr For me, FSUIPC is a must have component to my sim. If I have unexpected actions occurring from a particular button activation the problem is a conflicting assignment either in FSX controls/button assignments or one of the other pieces of software that I use. This can be frustrating, but, it is not an FSUIPC problem, it is a configuration management problem. Danny
