Do You txt while walking or driving?

but you kind of fell in the trap of admitting you had ulterior motives in making this post... ie hey ive been a bad boy but what about all these othed bad habits?

No, actually my offense has nothing with this topic, I didnt even mentioned it first, some guy dig it out to discredit me, but that's ok I feel stupid for being honest. Another lesson learned.

I'd assume because you can talk to your passengers and still look where you're going... I wouldn't see anything inherently dangerous with talking while you're driving as long as you're still paying attention to the road...

Regards,
Ró.

Well Ró, that depends. There are folks who seemingly cannot talk without using both hands to somehow give "added meaning and emphasis" to what they're saying...

I'm not going to mention any particular ethnicity, but y'all know who you are! :LMAO:

When I was stationed in Newark, NJ at St. Michael's Parish, my superior scared me the first (and last) time I rode in a car with him. He thought he could steer with his left knee and gesticulate wildly with both hands whilst roaring down the road at 55+ mph.

As I said, that was the last time I rode; from then on I said "Fr. Caputo, I'll drive while you 'talk'..." :Big Grin:

Every once in a while I pass a seeing eye dog and think to myself I bet you would be a better driver than some of the people I see on a daily basis because they must be blind!  At least have a seeing eye passenger dog that barks at you everytime you do something stupid.  They are MUCH more aware than most humans!

In fact the more I learn about humans the more I like dogs  :LMAO:

I thought Architects were the only ones who talked with their hands... to better explain the grandeur of their lofty ideas and dreams! jk.

Look... texting while driving, walking, engaging in intimate activities, in the classroom or boardroom is not the best idea. Especially when driving or walking; look at the poor woman who this thread was originally speaking about. You don't want to T-bone a car while texting a reply to "What's your favorite lingerie", right? Or, walk into an open manhole while texting a message to your significant other about whether the pork chops are still in the freezer or not.

Besides... wouldn't a phone call be better than a text message in the first place?

As a professional driver here in Canada, i have seen first hand as the "accident" unfolded why you do not text and drive, or smoke. I have seen a couple headon collisions caused by it, as the car was passing my 18 wheeler they failed to see that they crassed the centre line and got creamed by an on coming semi.

Ok, tell me difference between texting while driving, and lets say talking to your passengers while driving? Why first one is offense and second one is not?

I would rather not talk to passengers while driving and don't feel a need to talk to driver either.

All the above, if directly contributing factors to an accident would be driving without due care and attention.... An offence in itself.

Not that it relates directly to texting, but I have noticed a noticeable increase in drivers here in the U.S. not using their turn signals adequately.   More often than not, I find out they are driving with one hand on the wheel, the other with the phone against ear.   Seeing other drivers not signaling their turns has always been a pet peeve of mine, but ever since the widespread adoption of cell phone use while driving, I find myself increasingly ticked off when I'm driving.   I have even seen a young lady in an expensive Volvo make a turn across my path at a 4 way intersection, and then turn into a housing development, all without using the turn signal.  I first thought maybe she was new to the area, but I saw the phone against her ear.    What is going though these people's minds??  Is gossiping with their girlfriends while behind the wheel of a 2500 pound killing machine really that important?

I'm not sure which is worse, those who don't use their turn signals at all or those who only click them on for only one or two flashes. I've almost gotten into accidents where the person sitting next to me claimed that I was at fault for not seeing the other guy signal, even though they then admit it was only one or two flashes, and of course, from where they're sitting, they can actually see it, whereas from where I'm sitting, unless I had X-ray vision to be able to see through the left side pillar where the airbag is, there was no way I would be able to see it, certainly not if it was only one or two flashes.

I only text and walk if I'm 100% that I'm not going to run into anything, and when I'm crossing the street I put everything down and focus on that. If I'm low enough and have a satisfactorily sufficient visual scan, I'll text while I fly from time to time, but I wouldn't DARE text while I drive. A girl I know flipped her car doing that and she's lucky to be alive.

In my experience driving isn't dependant on whether someone uses their indicators or not. It's about the ability to read what is, or maybe, going to happen. Reacting to a turn signal is, in horse riding terms, 'behind the movement'. Much better to observe the 'body language' of traffic. Look beyond the car in front and you'll be 'pre-informed' about what the car in front is about to do. Sorry for all the 'inverted commas' Oh, and that goes for walking along the pavement as well. (alright, sidewalk)
