Agreed...well done.  I'll be hoping for a way to remove the grass to increase performance.  It is a beauty.

Just bought, downloaded, installed and finished a helicopter tour.  Really impressive.  Terminal buildings, textures, surrounding areas all beautifully done.

 

The only small letdown for me was the look of the main terminal building.  The Imaginesim KIAD is inferior in every other respect, but it does capture the compound curves of Eero Saarinen's roof.  The Flightbeam building looks like the facade shape was stuck onto a rectangle - sort of like an awning on a generic building.  Maybe that's something that could get a second look in an update.  It can't be easy to design a sim version of something like that, but it's such a distinctive building that a closer match would really put a signature on what's otherwise a masterpiece.

 

Overall, congratulations to Flightbeam - well done.

 

EDIT: You know, I'm wondering if maybe I'm having a problem with my installation.  The version of the terminal in the screenshots on Flightbeam's website looks exactly right.  Maybe it's not rendering correctly on my system.  I'd better go back and have another look.  Don't draw any conclusions yet based on my report.

 

EDIT 2: Yep, looks like the Flightbeam terminal building is jammed inside a default building.  I've uninstalled and am now re-downloading.  Will see what happens this time.

You have a conflicting AFCAD causing this. It could be MyTrafficX's KIAD AFCAD, or it could be something like Ray Smith's KIAD AFCAD. That file must be found and removed, typical areas to look for: 

 

Flight Simulator X/Addon Scenery/scenery

Flight Simulator X/Scenery/Global/scenery

Ps if he doesn't want to remove it I simply added the extension .bak to my duplicate afcad files.

And that was it.  I excluded the MyTraffic AFCAD (using Ryan's technique, which I use, too - I hate to do anything irrevocable) and all's well.  Beautiful, in fact.  Can now say conclusively this is an absolute masterpiece.

 

One follow-up question - I excluded all the KIAD-related bgl's in the MyTraffic folder, including those with the BN2 prefix.  I'm assuming that was the right approach, but if for any reason those should be restored (with only those beginning KIAD removed), let me know and I'll add them back in.

This is by far the best rendition of KIAD there is now.

Just bought  it an let me say it is amazing . This is my first time seeing an airport in fsx with see thru windows. Just amazing!!!!!! NO FPS Issues smooth landing an taxing .

My advice: cut your losses and buy this one! It's superior to the highest degree in every, EVERY, aspect you can think of.

 This really is a fantastic scenery, the work done on colour representation is really one of the best i've ever seen. Usually developers get a photoscenery and just use that as a straight background but this seems so much more colourful and representative of an airport in the real world, great work by Flightbeam who are fast becoming my favourite scenery developer.

Go on http://www.flightbeam.net/downloads.html and click FSX download for KIAD. The trial disappears after 10 minutes.

Thanks, that's what I wanted to know. I knew there was a trial and where to get it, just not if it was time-limited one or if it had half the buildings and stuff missing.

Bob, I'm not sure about AES, but GSX is natively included in this airport.  I love GSX ... good for all airports, buy once and forget it.

My older KIAD products from other vendors just went POOF and vanished!  

 

This looks amazing!  FlightBeam is definitely a clone of FSDT.  KIAD is about 11 miles from my house.

flightbeam is better than fsdt and very close if not better than flytampa in my opinion

I do a quick flight around KIAD and I come back and my buildings are gone.....I already activated it.
