DX10 fixer - 100,000 legit sales (out of 4,000,000 FSX sales copies and about 8,000,000 legit+hacked copies) at $10 each = $1M - that might be big enough to want a little overkill ;) Steve's product is a little different than your typical 3rd party Add-on, it's a FSX core changing product. Personally, I'd plan for a big bridge as I think 100,000 sales is conservative ...

Are you serious? 100,000? And that's conservative...? I think you overestimate how many people play FSX like we do. A few hundred copies sold would be a lot already...

A few hundred?? I think not, Jeroen: If the devs can't make money, then why are they in business? I'll bet good money they certainly do sell more that "a few hundred copies".

Ask John V.

Even 50,000? - no - lets make it just a mere 10,000 copies - perhaps even more conservative - at $30 a copy - that's still $300,000 .

One could buy a nice set of wheels with that.

I reckon that everyone who owns - and uses FSX,  like we do - will move the DX10 over the next year or so, and the devs will follow.

Well, almost  B)

I haven't been flying lately, vacation, friends, other stuff etc. so I'll probably pick FSX up again right after the release.

Go Steve!

Yes, that's only 2.5% market penetration which is very low - hence conservative.  But the key difference with this Add-On is that it's working with the core -- it's not really your typical FSX 3rd party product because everyone running FSX will benefit.  I know from prior posts that one of PMDG's aircraft sold over 65,000 copies.

Also, don't let the relatively small world of internet web sites for FS represent the potential audience.  Type FSX in YouTube and you'll get 886,000+ hits ... that's a lot of people making a lot of FSX YouTube videos ... and that's just YouTube.  Type FSX in google and you'll get 11,500,000+ results.  Now does this translate directly into individual users, no it doesn't, but it a good representation of just how popular FSX is.

Rob.

Congrats! I love that track... Well. I did when I was driving Iracing online. LOL

Man I wish we had a track here in Calgary. And that I had money. LOL

Nice video. :)

Love iracing. I think I am listed as an original member, but I havent had an active subscription for about two years. Good times. On topic though, I want it, I have money, it is apparently finished, let's have it! Lol

Over the life of the product, I would guess 50,000 copies sold @ $30 ea. would be ......ummm.....carry the one ..... holy moly, I'm going back to school.

I wish you guys would stop spending my money! 50,000 copies at $9.99 each would be plenty for me... LOL!

Yeah, $30 would be too steep  and I would just continue in DX9.

Dont’t want to give ideas to Steve  , but I see it this way:

If I just paid around $25.00 - $30.00 dollars each for brand new Airports or even more for brand new Airplanes that are non DX10 compatible (Not stated in Sales Pages), and Steve’s tool will fix those plus much more (Older add-ons); then why not pay him what he deserves.

Cheers.

Really? I thought you were a dyed-in-the-wool DX10-er, VB!

Forgive me, Bumpy - but this is quite a surprise to me, as over this last year you have had such a lot of great input into the forum, and have obviously tried a number of improvements yourself (BioShock, for e.g.), and considering that this one application will have more impact on FSX than P3D has to date - or may ever have - it seems to me a no-brainer!

We spend hours and hours every week of the year at this stupid FSX, and we do it year after year - some of us since 1986!

Moving to DX10 is huge - a quantum leap in how well this sim works!

$30? ... Pennies. Pennies. Even a theater ticket costs more. A visit to MacDonalds with the wife and kids costs more!
