Gents-

Occasionally- a new forum member, or someone who is new to the PMDG forums will come here and ask the weather radar question out of genuine curiosity.

We should recognize that- and treat such questions with respect, because every single one of us was "new" at one point. (Remember?)

Now- then there are the antagonists... We all know who they are- and they are the ones who simply can't believe that we can't do something so bloody simple when we can, after all, produce complexity levels light years beyond what most thought was possible just a few years ago...

Those folks we can just feed into the paper shredder... (Toes first- it enhances the screaming...)

Or better yet- just point them in the direction of a thread where this question has already been answered- and move on with our own lives. Remember- Fanbois like to antagonize out of a growing and impacted sense of inferiority... and there is always the risk that they might learn something about real radar and realize they've been duped.

Leveraging and incorporating either ASE's or REX's weather gauges should be quite possible.

Perhaps you'd like to show us the realistic weather radar simulation you've developed using this method then? After all, we clearly don't know anything about programming in FSX here.

FSXs weather engine does not map or make available the location, size or volume of clouds with water droplets, or precipitation. The real weather radar returns are based on this, therefore it can't be done.

Indeed the 'next best alternative' is to use addons like RXP or even the CS weather radar. Even though the weather depicted is only an 'approximation', it helps somewhat with the immersion and can be modded to display into the Nav display    :Nerd:

One can only hope the sudden increased presence of Rob and Ryan may signal that magic isn't really far off at all. That said, I'm going to annoy a lot of people and say I hope the T7 isn't released this weekend because I have other aircraft to at---oops, my NDA kicked in  ^_^

ALL my PMDG aircraft are wx radar-equipped this way ( :P ) - but from a marketing point-of-view it's not recommendable for PMDG to include such stuff themselves: Their high-fidelity system-modelling is something that should not be compromised.

(Note to myself: Don't make wx radar a PMDG feature request for exactly this reason.)

What happened to AVSIM

I hope we will get some good news before the weekend comes. Getting extremely anxious all over again, and I sort of have a good feeling something big is about to happen. :)

I feel the exact same. As tumtiddle said above, Rob and Ryan's presence is more prominent. Hopefully that really means the hard work is complete and they are just preparing for release.  :Praying:

Excellent post PMDG,

One question - and I apologize if it has already been asked, or if it is taboo to ask - has a pricing point been determined yet?

I was wondering, apparantly it's finished and all but has it actually entered beta testing already or is it really that close to release?

It might have been determined by them, but as of yet I don't think we know. At least I don't. If it was to be the same cost as the NGX it would be around 70 dollars, although I have read elsewhere that it may be upwards of 100. As of yet I really can't say (the other website source wasn't the most reliable). It will likely come with a release date announcement.

Anyone who mentions weather radar should have their order delayed for a week (except for me of course!)

Even better.....why don't you try just being polite and say "PMDG have already advised that it won't be happening".

Took me 10 seconds to type that.

Oh yeah, I feel like I'm about to explode with excitement. Last night I actually tried to imagine first loading her up... Think heart skipped a few beats.

OK guys, you can release it now...I've finished my uni exams  :Nerd:

I know you did mention in a previos post about the EFB so im just wandering as you havent shown the EFB working in your latest pictures if it will be working in time for the release?

You might wanna put your name in your posts/signature. You don't want to get paper shredded feet first.
