VS is used more often than you think.

The inverse of that is also true...

...I remember reading this but do not recall the source at the moment:

...LVL CHG mode generally produces uncomfortably high rates of climb and descent along with steeper deck angles, and often induces a gentle porpoising of the nose as the aircraft uses pitch changes to control airspeed...

Because of this it is rarely used, except possibly for higher segments of heavyweight climbs where climbs at max power produce deck angles that are less uncomfortable.

The person who does the forum activations is out of the country for awhile, so please be patient. It may take a few days for him to read email and make the forum available.

In the meantime, why not load up the SP-77 version and avoid the problem?

Generally speaking, FLCH (speed by pitch) is most suited to climbing, where there is the inherent risk of stall due to low airspeed, if vertical speed was not carefully monitored and reduced as altitude is gained.

It;s worth bearing in mind that VNAV mode (not that they are relevent to a 732 obviously) are just using FLCH with some computed paramters for the 'speed' value to be maintained.  Eg, from climb to acceleration altitude, typically V2+20, then from E/O to 10,000 feet at 250kts (constraint), and then above 250kts, relative to cost index).

VS however is better suited to descent for the reasons that Bill gave above;  smoother descent, and predictably managed, whereas using FLCH to descent, with idle thrust, can result in some unpredictable and extreme vertical speeds.  (5,000 FPM anyone?).

If anyone is getting the sound creation errors despite having the default cockpit set to VC  I found that if I loaded up the default flight in the sim then switched planes it worked fine again after that.

Just want to keep flying this aircraft, love the sounds and feels like a late 60s plane, awesome.

Flew the CS 732 last night and it flew quite well actually.  So I'm still on the fence with the Milviz.  Only thing is on the CS the flight dynamics may not be correct....I was ascending at 5500 fpm at 320+ knts.  Is this possible in a 732?

There are quite a lot of bugs I hope get sorted out, such as; sounds, cockpit lighting effects, systems etc. I guess I'm too used to the complexity of the NGX

but imho not every product is going to have this type of modeling.

Nor does every product need it. Quality Wings does a good job deciding what needs to be modeled and how detailed that modeling needs to be.

That being said, the MV 737 is quite a good add-on and well worth it. Glad I spent the cash on this and not on FTX Global  B)

I dont

see how bugs with the lighting and sound means its not as good in systems as the NGX...which again I think is unfair because, lets be honest they are not really similar aircraft

I'm not comparing it to the NGX by any means. I was just sharing my thoughts and what I'd like to see in future updates.

Anyway I am struck looking for decent older airliner. Several CS products are buggy, Milviz 737 is at this point immature. No good choices...I think maybe Coolsky DC-9-30 has fully working autopilot and navigation equipment amongst FSX airliners from pre-FMS era?

This is twice you've made such statements in this same thread. Since you can try the product for up to 30 days risk free, why not simply try it out instead of wondering?

Very few developers offer folks this choice... Carpe Diem!
