MILVIZ 732 RELEASED!

I know you tend to ignore my posts (I'm probably on your ignore list :wink:) but on the off chance you do read this;

I asked the same question earlier in the thread, and Jonathan (one of the developers) kindly PM'd me to explain that he is currently in the process of setting up key assignments and hardware integration, and that it will be added to the product once completed.

Hope that helps.

I never place people on ignore, that's petty.  Thanks for the answer, and good to know that they'll be supporting this as I've grown quite dependent on my switches to twist common dials instead of using the mouse.

This suggests the AP is using default FSX Autopilot code, where a climb or descent will always level out once a selected altitude is reached.  (Even if a plane does not have visible alt selection, this behaviour will still apply, where the default FSX autopilot is used).

If that is the case, I would actually be pleased, because ;-

On the rare occasions I fly planes with APs that don't have Alt Preselect, I always shoot my altitude! (oops)

If this is the case, the standard FSX AP key assignments will work

That might be a deal breaker for me. Default functionality is no good. Especially where it starts descending/climbing automatically as soon as you change the altitude setting.

My 2cents is that i am Very much am enjoying it. Excellent on the fps, great soundset, and the immersion factor is there. The only critique i have is the ap and would like to have the flch button work. Once those are implemented that will just up an already great aircraft to superb.

Yes, sorry Colin, I should have added to my comment above, to the other guys that I was chatting with Jonathan and that he too alluded to the development of the custom AP (with FLCH etc), to follow.

Very much look forward to it! ........ However, AP aside, I can resist this beautiful aircraft no longer, and am going to buy it and fly the heck out of it, this very evening.

There are a couple of things that are bugging me but maybe they shouldn't. So I'll ask for some clarification:

1. With the SP77 config, I didn't expect the plane to level off on its own once set altitude was reached.

2. With either config (FMS or not) when changing the altitude, the airplane starts to climb/descend at + or - 800. Is this correct.

Thanks for the information.

I have not done a flight yet so now I know in advance ... things are a bit .... off.

I can't help but notice from screenshots, that the cockpit shows and extreme amount of wear and tear. I understand that this represents and old bird, but is this really that realistic? Time to retire this one I think.

I absolutely think that this represents the reality very well. These workhorses have a lot of flying hours... People seem to have wrong expectation about the (visual) condition of the flight deck of airliners in general. While technically maintained perfectly, the thousands of hours of flicking switches and turning knobs can be seen very well, especially on older birds like this.

Aside from altitude capture, the rest of the SP77 is 100% custom code. It makes no sense to have an altitude preselector if it doesn't actually work...

To allow for setting a new desired altitude, simply switch the ALT HOLD off (it will continue to hold the current altitude), set your new desired altitude on the preselector, then switch ALT HOLD on again when you wish to change altitude to your new target.

Doesn't the SP77 only have an altitude warning instead of a preselector?

(At least that's the case with the TM2.)

I believe Bjoern is correct, afaik the SP77 altitude knob was simply a reminder and was not really connected to the AP

Correct.

I think we'd all agree with your logic Bill, but the fact is, the SP77 only had altitude warning (audible tone), and would not automatically level out, at the altitude dialled in the window.

On the real unit, the altitude dialled in the window is solely to get the warning tone at 1,000 to go.   The PF still needs to manually level out of climb/decent, and select ALT HOLD.

.

Q400-Please let us know your opinion on this new bird for those of us on the fence due to the not so unreasonable price tag but considering the fact that we have so many 737s.  I'm ready to dump the CS 732 though if I get this one.

The altitude selector determines when the warning horn fires. Then the pilot levels off.
