A2A Cessna 172 now available

Featured Replies

This is a major bug that some of us are getting (I am getting it real bad;  I too lose all VC clickspots within seconds of being in the VC on the ground).....

But to be honest, more people who are experiencing it need to go and sign up on the A2A forum like I did and make some noise about it.... Although A2A have reassured us they are looking at it, I am not convinced anough people are reporting it there       - so that they get to see the scale of the problem.

I am confident the guys will fix this      - I hope so as it is an absolute showstopper for those of us getting it. :(

I reported it already, there are mny with this problem. The walk around doesn't work at all, it's not clickable either. I run single monitor, no track ir or camera software.

It shows the importance of a good beta to a larger team, or you buy the beta, like DCS does.

Even once it's fixed, I have. Major concerns for the way this aircraft flies. I have hrs on the real aircraft, I found flying it easy like it should be, the controls slightly slow, the roll and pich lazy. But I nearly looped this oe when taking off, 1pass full fuel, slight back pressure and nose was 20 deg up! At slowspeed, the aircraft is very nervous and twitchy, especially in pitch.

For fun, I flew at 70 kts, hard turn, 360 deg, stall horn sounding, completed turn in under 10 seconds, then inverted at 70kts, 200 ft, stall, pulled out at 100 ft. It flies like an overpowered rc plane?

Landing was no much fun, trim FULL forward and the nose still want to stay high as it rolls to a stop.

Not convinced this ac is for me. But I don't know where I stand regarding money back. 50 bucks for a 172 or 90 for a properly tested 777!

To say the 172 wasn't properly tested is a bit of an exaggeration....

Iain, one easy tweak you can try is simple change the elevator_effectiveness in aircraft.cfg.  It's set to 2 by default so cut it in half to 1 and see how you like it then.

I noticed the steamy cockpit too. I think there is a keyboard shortcut for the defrost but I can't find it in the VC. At least in the P51 I can open the canopy in flight to clear it.

I think the canopy fogging should be an option - as it's a real problem if you fog up.

The overhead lights come on when you turn the master switch on. That may be what gives the cockpit a "washed out" look. Took me a bit of searching to find how to turn them off. There's actually a button in the roof next to the light.

Hmmm.. I would say that you should report your findings / bug on the A2A forum if you haven't already.  I'm really not seeing behavior like that.

I just completed my second c&d to c&d VFR flight, this one a bit longer, about 45 minutes.  I'm now sitting nicely tied down out at Villeneuve Airport (CZVL).  I had a bit of a crosswind, so my landing wasn't quite as much of a greaser as my first was yesterday, but I really find this such a nice plane to fly.  Don't see any twitchiness to speak of, just a nice smooth response on the controls.  Was able to do a fairly decent flare and settle once again, which made me happy.

I also didn't have a single VC mouse bug on this flight; I did use the mouse pretty heavily on this flight, since it was also my first with the RXP 430 installed, plus I did a full walkaround prior to take off, loaded passenger and baggage, etc. Didn't see any issues with the 430 either (nice touch on the simple toggle to have the RXP unit appear!), but I was pretty much just using it as a moving map with a direct-to line helping me keep the plane pointed in the right direction.

I used the directions on the A2A forum to get my Saitek panel batt & alt switches working, works perfect now.

Based on tonight's flight, I have almost* zero complaints. I hope you all that are having issues soon get satisfaction - when it works perfectly, such as what I experienced tonight, it's a genuinely pleasing experience.

* I said 'almost' up there, because I did park it on grass - in Orbx world, and thus found out what you all were talking about - I didn't realize that I was taxiing into a foot of mud... I may need a hand getting it pushed out!!

Its very nice, I tested it.

I have had a few planes that click spots failed at various zooms. Have you tried moving eyepoint/head forward or back and adjust zoom to see if problem goes away? It might be a combination of those. eyepoint and zoom.

C.

I wouldn't be surprised if this VC Clickspot bug some of you are talking about is because you have your head positioned too far back via Ezdok/Opus.

It's not.

There's a whole thread on it at the A2A forum; non Track, non EZDOK, Non Opus customers are affected all alike.    It's been tested and is not a view related anomoly. Apparantly it is related to some hidden 2D panels that work in the background........   I'm sure A2A will fix it.

For those with the steamy cabin;  opening the side windows and turning on the defroster (via Shift +3) clears the mist in seconds, and once cleared it doesn't seem to come back (unless you crank up the cabin heat, with no ventilation :)).

This mysterious loss of clickable spots in the VC is not something that we can reproduce.

Very worrying that this cannot be reproduced at A2A HQ.... It's so strange that something so fundamentally game-stopping for such a large number of people just isn't happenning to any users on the A2A team.

One wonders how this can ever be fixed if you're just not seeing it. Pop over to my house and you'll see it 30 seconds after the plane loads, and right until I restart FSX.

is there a  cold dark start up tutorial?

I have to say I wish I had not bought the 172. If you have reality XP 520 the 172 will not even load, it crashers fsx ever time. Someone found a work around but I had already un-installed my reality xp to just get the 172 to not crash fsx.

Also if you use multi screens you will find you have no click spots and it's almost imposable to get them back, a real show stopper.

Cannot give any positives because after getting it to not crash fsx, took ages, and the lose of reality xp then to see my click stops going I just gave up on it.

To tell the truth If I could get my money back I would. I never thought I would say that about A2A. Love all the aircraft I have got from them.

Just be warned that's all I will say. I just hope they sort it all out. Because ATM it's INOP.

Hey Dave, that is a real bummer matey. I'm sure A2A will sort it though, if not the, then IMO they should be gracious enough to offer a refund.

Yer but I now have the 777 so......I just wish I had not bought the 172. INOP on release is just not on and from them of all people. O well.

Dave do you have 3 screens? I have heard single monitor users are also getting this problem so may not be related to multiple monitors but an underlying 2 d panel(but I guess that will not work with 3 as the 2dscreen sizes are normally altered by multiple monitors)

Just wondered if anyone running on nvidia surround is ok or if all have this problem ? If all nvidia surround users have this problem there is no point in me getting it which would be a great shame ! :-(

I am installing and I assume everyone installed the core update? I am downloading it now and about to install that as well.

It's only needed if you have other planes (warbirds) from A2A. You don't need the core if you only have the C172.

For those with the steamy cabin;  opening the side windows and turning on the defroster (via Shift +3) clears the mist in seconds

If you don't like using that menu and want to do it in the VC (if you can click, that is.......): you can take care of the defroster with a few little knobs at the bottom of the windshield. See page 88 en 89 in the manual.

I didn't have any clickspots problems yesterday but I didn't really use the radio's. But all the lights and switches seemed to work fine. I will see what happens this evening when I will do my first complete flight. (Well, whatever a 'complete' flight is: I am used to fly from one airport to another but somehow this plane seems really suited for taking off and landing on the same airport, just flying around in the neighborhood.)
