Wrong Version of UiAutomationCore.dll

Featured Replies

Dang. Got me too whatever it was. Certainly wasn't PMDG as I don't have any of their stuff.

Freeware developer Pompeii, Italy and Mount Vesuvius (pompeii_italy.zip) and A380 Flight plans (ai_a380_flightplans_redux.zip).

Are we 100% sure about this? It's not like Nick to be careless about something like this.

I am positive it is the wrong version.  Plus PaulJ who wrote the AVSIM Software and Hardware Guide is never wrong.... and that's the version I reference is in his guide.

Best regards,

Jim

I also had the 'wrong' version. I just did a clean reinstall of my system 2 weeks ago and know exactly where my copy came from. It was a link NickN provided in his 'Bible'.

I downloaded this again just now to double check and it's the one you indicate is wrong. Are we 100% sure about this? It's not like Nick to be careless about something like this.

Oh boy. I didn't read your whole message and thought you were pointing to the correct version. Anyway I installed the wrong one over the wrong on lol.

Sure explains why I was getting black screens and APP hangs

That's strange. Without UIAutomationcore.dll I get crashes, but using the "wrong" version, 6.0.6001.18000, I get no crashes at all. The last add-on I installed was the A2A 172 and have several hours in it with not a single crash (on Windows 8).

Hi Jim

Thanks for that heads-up. Luckily for me, yesterday in a different thread about the latest Nvidia driver where you also posted a reply to me, Paul J, pointed me to the correct version of that UIAuto,,,,,,,,,and where it should correctly go, buy great kudos to you for highlighting it here.

Yes, Jim is abolsutely correct, NICE CATCH BROTHER JIM!

Here is a direct link to the correct file (I'm not able to access the Guide Link, not sure why):

I posted this in simforums. Nick was not aware of this. He replied that wrong version (6.0.6001.18000) was the most common used. He will test this and replace it, if this version makes a difference

Jim,

Thanks for bringing this to everyone's attention.

That link is no good, I still have the "wrong version"

Should i unblock the file?

As an aside, I don't believe this issue (no matter what old version of the DLL you install) has any relationship to P3d under Win 7 or Win 8.

Before everyone gets jacked out of shape though....

I'm not so sure this is a problem:

The version that nick is posting is from Longhorn RTM 080118-1840 which was Vista service pack 1 and the other "right" version I believe is Vista pre-service pack.

They are both Vista 32 so though different version what makes it wrong?

Has this been causing crashes? I haven't had any menu crashes and I have the "wrong" version also.

Thank you.

Thanks Jim,

I have the wrong one as well and will replace it with the correct one.  So it's just a matter of dropping it into the root FSX folder, no need to write it to the registry or anything?

Interesting.  I've been using this "wrong" version for about the past 100 hours of flight time and I haven't experienced any issues.  To update it or not to update it....
