Looking at the freeware category there certainly is a shift from how things were when FS9 was the main sim to now.  With FSX it's a payware market even with all the great freeware and AI solutions out there.  I was also surprised to see FS9 is the most used sim next to FSX and most people prefer short haul airliner flying to all other categories.  Freight can have short flights and GA is whatever you want but airliners like the A320, 737, E-Jet, and ERJ's rule the virtual skies hands down.

More young'uns than I'd thought, that is promising. Thanks for the survey.

No space aliens listed either, oh well......

Very Informative.

Some correlations between statistics would be interesting:

1. Correlation between 'education level' and 'effort investment for add-on purchases'.

2. Correlation between 'Where do you live' and "country's'  population".

3. Correlation between 'On line organizations' and 'Aircraft category'

Comments:

1. Females: Expected results...  tempting if we could compare with the percentage of AOPA female members.

2. 'What of the following is you favorite' (last survey): Funny one !!! Made me 'googling to see what are (almost) all the other options except pizza !!

Sam.

Waiting for the 64-bit PSION Flightsim for ZX-Spectrum ////

Always interesting.

Do you see any evolution over the years regarding the share

- of the ROTW vs the US ?  As a correlative observation, I'm surprised by the quasi absence of Asia, notably China and Japan ! A loss for us all.

- of the 55 yo and over vs the 25 yo and younger ?

Very interesting! This has to be digested and analyzed.

Talk about digestion, under the last question regarding foods: What on earth is spotted dick? I cant get Michael Jackson out of my head now...

Yes, very interesting.  Thanks Mr. Allensworth for putting this together.

I am surprised by the seemingly small Asian presence; would have thought there would be more simmers from Japan, S.Korea, India etc.???

As far as our Turkish friends I lived in Izmir for 4 years (Karsiyaka 35 1/2  ) Great people who are passionate about aviation, hope there numbers rise in the 2014 survey!

It seems at least 8 members from one country is needed for country to be depicted on graphic.

I always thought the question on the survey dealing with VATSIM etc - "are you an "ACTIVE" member of an on-line flight group.    I've been a member for years, but I haven't used the program in ages.   It provides more accuracy in terms of the somewhat all encompassing question you asked.

Very informative. Tells me a few things:

1.  We are an educated, older crowd with disposable income.

2.  We need to attract younger simmers for the next generation.

3.  We need to attract female simmers to keep the forums civil!

Intel i9-12900KF, Asus Prime Z690-A MB, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, (3) SK hynix M.2 SSD (2TB ea.), 16TB Seagate HDD, Gigabyte GeForce 5080 RTX, Corsair iCUE H70i AIO Liquid Cooler, UHD/Blu-ray Player/Burner (still have lots of CDs, DVDs!)  Windows 10, (hold off for now on Win11),  EVGA 1300W PSU
Netgear 1Gbps modem & router, (3) 27" 1440 wrap-around displays
Full array of Bravo, Saitek and GoFlight hardware for the cockpit. Varjo and HP VR headsets for mixed reality.

2. We need to attract younger simmers for the next generation

Too complicated and expensive for that group. No killing either!

3. We need to attract female simmers to keep the forums civil!

FS is, for the most part a mocho guy thing. Would you propose promoting FS in Vanity Fair?

-Just funning of course.
