February 28, 201412 yr Had been having problems with FSX for a while ,so i took the plunge and moved to P3D V2.1. I'd read good things about it so got stuck in and read all i could about setting it up...3 days and i've had enough of it. My take on it was that it was FSX on steroids.for me it was FSX on hemorrhoids..basically a pain in the A*&(" The list is of problems to type in is too long..so after all the reinstalling of it i deleted it last night and am now returning to FSX and a complete reinstall of win 7 64 and FSX. I read about other p3d users who have no problems at all,for me it was a nightmare from start to finish. steve REX SKYFORCE 3D steve howlett
February 28, 201412 yr Prepar3D 2.1 is a nightmare for many unfortunately. What are the problems you're getting? If it's OOMs, then stay tuned for an upcoming hotfix.
February 28, 201412 yr Commercial Member My take on it was that it was FSX on steroids.for me it was FSX on hemorrhoids. Awesome. (Quote, not your situation of course!) February 28, 201412 yr Commercial Member FSX on hemorrhoids  I agree with you at some point, but clearly P3D2 is still young to be called FS11 or whatever. LM make two steps forward with some features and some major issues solved, than after a day or two when patch is released it looks they made a step back also. OOM's, stutters, more issues, etc. Looong way to go for LM nad P3D2 to be considered as stable platform that can push FSX to history. Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.
February 28, 201412 yr Once they make the 64bit version (and all the developers follow suit making the addons 64bit ready) it will topple FSX. Al Stiff
February 28, 201412 yr Author sorry..no offence to anyone at LM intended..i did stress that it's my situation and i do realize that it is early days in P3D 's life.i guess i thought that this was a Fixed FSX and i could jump in and off i'd go.no more OOM.s CTD.s ..for me it was a major setback. as for errors .i was plagued by runtime problems.sudden CTD's and terrible stutters I'm also long enough in this game to know 99% of it is system related.some people can load up a sim and run maxed out all day..some like me can't run a bath without a problem steve REX SKYFORCE 3D steve howlett

February 28, 201412 yr Movie reviewer Roger Ebert had what he called his "guilty pleasure" movies; the ones where after it was over, everyone was saying, "That stunk. Hated it. Worst ever," and he was saying to himself, "Gee, I dont know; I kinda liked it." Thats the way I am with this post and P3d V2.1. I don't have a high powered machine (an old Dell XPS 420 I bought secondhand), and P3D runs great with no problems. But then, it's kinda been that way with most of the software and machines Ive purchased over the years, going back to C-64 days.. Guess Ive led a charmed computing life, and I certainly dont mean to gloat or to downplay your frustrations. Before you jump ship, let the good people on this web site help you get things to work. In fact when I first bought P3D, I got a refund the next day.... kinda freaked that I had bought something that was not much different than FSX. But after a week, I bought it again, did minimal tweaking and adjusting, and am now a happy camper; wouldnt go back. Hang in there.
