egarding the PrecipitFX contrails and wingtip vortices: Did you post your adjustments somewhere? If not, could you do it, please?

NO I didn't, I would need to get permission from the PrecipitFX folks to do so.  I haven't seeked them out ... real work has me super busy right now.  If someone knows the PrecipitFX folks and wants to put them in touch with me I'd be happy to share -- maybe they can provide a control panel in their future products and/or I could help them enabled some features they support in FSX but not P3D.

Cheers, Rob.

Thanks for the cloud.fx file. Took a couple of quick flights in stormy ASN weather near Dinard last night. Looks great!

Maybe you could just send them a PM here on the forum as they are quite active here. I don't want to stress your precious time but I guess it would be quite odd if someone else than yourself would tell them about a potential improvement of their project you have discovered. But as I said: If you currently don't have the time to do so, then I fully understand this.

Just wanna share my experience with the cloud fix. So far i am a happy camper no spinning nor vertical clouds  discovered. Performance is great though. However for whom it may concern is that the "flying through clouds immersion" is now gone. The clouds will literally go out of the aircrafts way.

Thats the only thing i noticed for now.

Am using ASN + REX4 textures have wideview enabled and im using TrackIR5.

This is what I am also experiencing.

The vertical rotating clouds are certainly gone, but I now get the clouds being pushed out of the way by the nose of the aircraft - like water breaking on a rock in a stream. Definitely doesn't seem natural.

I agree that the "flying through clouds" sensation is now gone, the clouds have no "depth" they all just seem like flat 2d objects that slide out of the way as I fly through them?

Also using ASN + REX 4 textures, but not trackir

Same effect using the latest beta of OpusFSI also

I get the same as well. Using ASN.

If you want to fix the Vertical cloud issues and also retain VERY good cloud performance you can use the v2.2 Cloud.fx and Cloud2.fx files.

Cheers, Rob.

Rob what about performance with this new fx file? Since 2.3 i have significant fps drop with clouds. With 2.0-2.2 I had almost none fps hit, even with hard weahter.

Frank

My cloud performance (in terms of fps) is directly related to the level and type of AA I use.  2.4 cloud performance seems better than 2.3 and the new Cloud.fx seems to help even more for my setup.

However, I'm using P3D default clouds as those seem to work well for me.

Cheers, Rob.

Wow! applied the downloaded cloud fx file, deleted shaders and now my spinning cloud issue is twice as bad as it was before!

Awesome!

Thanks Rob, but for the moment, with my specs and setup, the least worst is the Cloud.fx 2.3.

I installed the cloud.fx and it's true! Clouds look really great now.

But I have my runway lights flashing/floating above the runway Can this be a result of applying the new .fx file?

P3d 2.4

I installed the latest Orbx libraries, reinstalled the Rex textures and the problem went away.

Thanks Rob for following up on this for us. I grabs the Cloud.fx from LM that you provided and everything looks good. The cloud shadows are also working as they should. FPS is also fine locked at the default 20fps.
