Will improvment ever arrive?

Hello,

I know what I'm about to say might come out wrong to some people but just hear me out. I think that us having to stand the same graphical engine for about 8 years is stupid. The amount of hours spent on making addons for this outdated game is amazing. Think about how plane addons would look in a newer more updated flight simulator. I know what im saying is in someway not feasible since not as many people are interested in flight sims anymore, but in the hours and money spent making addons and still having 20 fps on a $2000 pc is ridiculous, think about It.

It is even more stupid to make statements like that.

No one forces you to use a particular flight simulator, these days you have multiple choices.

No one forces you to use any flight simulator at all.

It is silly to complain about a program which is no longer even supported (I am guessing FSX is on your mind).

Who do you think will improve such program? Some knight in shining armor on a white horse?

You can design your own flight simulator with the best 'graphical engine' and save the world.

Plus using the latest hardware you should be getting more than 20 fps and fully enjoy the 'game', unless it is your goal to 'prove' how bad it is.

 think about It.

yeah, I suggest you do that.

Why on earth haven't you installed Prepar3D then?

Poor guy... he'll never be able to answer you simmerhead.

That is... unless he becomes the Master of Disguise and does the become another person... which I am thinking now (not that I really care) that is what the ban is about (previously banned).

At least his altruistic sig wrt AVSIM is still intact.

Understandable its absolutely non of my business but hey i'm human,  apart from trying to open a large can opinionated worms :o   the original post seems harmless enough,   begs the question, why would someone be banned and only 2 days ago.

I have to believe there was some other back and forth that we didn't see. The original post certainly doesn't warrant banning.

Best not to ask those kind of questions. However, I will answer. When previously banned users setup accounts to overcome the ban, we will eventually detect it. Banned is banned. No matter how many times you try to evade it. Simple answer; don't get banned in the first place.

I am still using software that was released between 1998 and 2002

I do a lot of AutoCAD and I still use AutoCAD 2000 even though I could use the latest one. Reason why is it performs outstanding on the latest machines and it still has emphasis on Command Prompts rather then Popup Menus (which is slower). A person is capable of typing over 60+ words per minute and that is impossible to match that sort of speed with mouse clicks and popup menus, it is impossible to click that many commands per minute with a mouse. I am sure a lot of the older boys on here find using DOS quicker then Windows menus for the same reason, when you know the commands it is quicker then using a mouse.

As for FSX it will continue to be around for a very long time. Even if a 64-bit Flight Sim came out in the near future the many addon's we currently use won't work as they are programmed in 32-bit so we are looking at a 4 to 8 year transitional phase to get away from 32-bit into 64-bit with all that we have available today. FSX took about 4 years to really come of age with the variety of addon's that were available 4 years ago and even better today.

A lot of us used both FS2004 and FSX up until around 2010 because FSX took a while to catch up.....A 64-bit Flight Sim may take even longer to come of age

I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me

The OP, among other things, jumped right past the obvious: a graphical engine is only one component, vague as the term may be. Unlike console games and PC shooters and such, a flight simulator inherently involves tons of calculations... not only in rendering the world but also the dynamics and flight computers for the aircraft. Thus, we have an inordinately CPU-bound program. Add to that the fact that it's typically one core that takes on the task of syncing all of the aforementioned processes so even if you have a 4.7Ghz i7 (like I do), it still comes down to core 0... perhaps someone above my paygrade can explain why we can't broaden the synching process (or whatever it may be officially called) to more than one core...

Greg, the simple fact that all required tasks must be assembled in a strict linear order before being forwarded to the graphics processor for rendering demands that this take place on only one core...

...spreading the tasks among multiple cores would be somewhat less efficient and slower to execute.

With stuck at the present time with the tech we have. The free clock ride is over, for the time being...

Cheers,

There has a been a consumer level 64 bit flight sim on the market for over two years. X-Plane.

Yes and it still has a long way to catch up to where FSX is today, which was my original point that a 64-bit Flight Sim would take 4 to 8 years to develop the same sort of development we see with FSX or P3D. Also X-Plane isn't as much a commercial success as FSX so not much chance of it taking off the same way

As an X-Plane and ex FSX user I would have to disagree, X-Plane exceeds FSX in many aspects. In terms of commercial success it didn't have the massive user base of fs2004 and fs2000 or Microsofts huge marketing budgets, however from my experience on various forums and certain multi platform Facebook pages, X-Plane has been surging ahead these last few months, helped in some respects by its move to the Steam platform and the uncertainty over FSX and P3D's future. The fact that PMDG are openly developing for it is also a factor in many people moving over.
