April 8, 201511 yr So, apart from getting in a helicopter and hovering nearby, is there a way to secure close up views of the ships, in a similar way to viewing AI Aircraft? In those You Tube videos above, the camera position was virtually on the waterlevel at times. How would you get those nice steady shots? Ian S
April 8, 201511 yr That is a bug that has haunted FSX. The fix for that is in the Avsim depository, and app called AI Dupe. It also stops your VAS from taking a hit when the double up happens. So AI planes double up as well. Unfortunately, I cannot get AI Dupe to work in P3D. So, if using P3D as well, when you start a flight, keep away from the menu. Thanks Badfinger. I do remember that I had a texture reload...and that was the culprit. Too bad this got past the M.S. team...
April 8, 201511 yr OK, after seeing the two videos, I'm sold :-) I better start installing and see If I can get it to look just as good in FSX SE. One question though...I have never seen moving waves like that before, is that built into FSX or is it just because I've never noticed it flying high above the seas? Jorn Lundtoft I don't always stop and look at airplanes.........Oh wait, Yes I do. April 9, 201511 yr Author The video is done in P3D with waves activated - you don't have that option in FSX - the wakes however looks better in FSX than in P3D... I have asked Ole who did the videos about how he did them.
April 9, 201511 yr You Tube videos above, the camera position was virtually on the waterlevel at times. How would you get those nice steady shots? The videos linked were recorded in Slew mode. For realism, the actual Ship pack included sound file was edited in afterwards in one of them. Although, one can achieve the same by using the EZCA Camera addon POV mode. The main advantage (in addition to smooth camera motion) being that the actual sound wound then also will be recorded. I have never seen moving waves like that before, is that built into FSX or is it just because I've never noticed it flying high above the seas? As Henrik pointed out, the waves in P3D2 will show up like this with water setting at 'Ultra' and 'Bathmetry' enabled. With Bathmetry enabled, wave height will also change in relation to the water depth (although, afaik depth data by default is only available for the US and Hawaii). In the videos I'm using REX Textures from the 'old' Essentials+OD, btw. The new REX4 textures are far too blue imo. An example video with max winds (only edit is added winds sounds - recorded in 30fps and 8xSGSS in Nvidia Inspector, so a bit "stuttery"): http://youtu.be/zmgh-dyxTBc Olewww.flightsimnorway.com
April 9, 201511 yr Can I just ask a question..... I only fly around the UK and Ireland, so do I need to install all of the ship packages? I just wondered how much ship traffic there is around my shores (North Sea, Irish Sea, English Channel, part of the north eastern Atlantic etc). April 9, 201511 yr Concious of the time it tales to install these gems, I've backed up the folders it creates as 'mega folders', my entire ship folder, every ship traffic bgl in a folder, and the ship effects in another folder. Should I reinstall FSX I will just copy these across in one go. Ship traffic is second to air traffic for me in making FSX alive, and I wouldnt be without either! I'd happily pay for this great add on. - Paul Elliott http://www.avsim.com/topic/450607-amy-johnson-london-to-australia-attempt/

I'd happily pay for this great add on. Just create an entire System Image of your hard drive...and everything is backed up. If you have any kind of trouble, you only have to reintroduce it (the image) back to your hard drive, and you don't even have to spend the time to install, or figure out what needs to go, where. I do this every time there is some major change to my flight sim installations, by adding to, or deleting from.

Should I reinstall FSX I will just copy these across in one go. That's a great idea. I agree with Mitch ("Sesquashtoo") that a system image is the easiest possible way to restore - but it'd be nice to have the folders on hand for something more limited, like a P3D reinstall. Will try to set up my own mega-folders when time permits. Alan Ampolsk"Ah, Paula, they are firing at me!"-- Saint-Exupery

April 10, 201511 yr I decided to give it a go and installed all of them in the order that Henrik suggests, but they don't show up in my FSX Steam. I DO know why, after writing with Henrik, it's because I have an ai package installed which are in FS9 format and they need to be converted to FSX format with AIFP, I tried under Bulk Traffic by chosing "Convert FS9 traffic to FSX", but I just get a message saying ....No traffic files found/selected. Does anyone know what to do excat in AIFP to convert them and get the ships to appear in FSX SE? Jorn Lundtoft I don't always stop and look at airplanes.........Oh wait, Yes I do. April 11, 201511 yr Hi Henrik, hi forum, now I have my first own created ship for P3D and FSX finished and in works fine in P3D (FSX I cannot test, because I haven´t the FSX). But at least I have a question. Henrik can yout tell me how to make the radar antennas turning around? Here some pics of the model. In Sketchup: at day: and at night: Grüße / Greetings aus / from Hamburg (the most beautiful city in the world) Manfred

April 16, 201511 yr Thank you for the praise. At the moment the model in the beta test, because I went a couple of new ways in this model and do not know whether these changes works well in both simulators (FSX / P3D - I have only the P3D). I hope that I can release it in a week for download. Grüße / Greetings aus / from Hamburg (the most beautiful city in the world) Manfred
April 17, 201511 yr I finally got around to playing around a little more with it and got my FP9 plans converted to FSX, but still no ship traffic anywhere. I set my slider to 10% and as I understand it, it should be enough to see the AI AND get rid of default ship traffic. But the only ships I see are the default Fsx ships, so what or where do I go wrong? Jorn Lundtoft I don't always stop and look at airplanes.........Oh wait, Yes I do.
