[27FEB15] Latest News/Release Planning Notes, etc

If it was easy as just copy paste from the T7, it would've been released ages ago. Clearly it's not the same. Every time I read your posts it becomes more obvious how little you know about this.

Never claimed to be a programer, though i don't see how with a little tweaking and working with it a very similar system wouldn't fix the NGX, which is why i think that the big hold up is the weather radar not playing nice.

The weather radar is done by Active Sky. All they have to do with that is implement the gauges. That is not the hold up.

The Xplane part is exactly the same of the last post (21FEB). It is possible to have some really new info?

RSR says right in the update that a lot of it was just cut/paste of the previous update. So there is your change on the Xplane. There was no change.

Looking forward to seeing PMDG's X-Plane offering.

Having moved to X-Plane just in the new year and having a whole month on holiday before I could even install it :(

I'm finally getting to grips with it, so P3D and X-Plane will be my two sims. It takes quite a bit of patience to set up,but it's worth the effort.

No need for addon night sceneries (Sorry Chris!), and to fly over the Netherlands and actually recognize it by the outline is something else!!!.

More and more addons are being made commercially available and the future looks bright!

It will be a long-term thing for X-Plane and it keeps getting better.

Good luck with the project, I wish you all well.

I don't unterstand why prepar 3D has not priority on FSX SE. I think there are many more users on prepar 3D. But thanks for your hard work !!

Probably has something to do with "Not everyone is getting into Prepar3d and we still have a very large customer base in FSX and FSX:SE that we have no plans of abandoning them or the platform and just say they are SOL and need to buy another game and their favored aircraft again" I could be wrong, its just a hunch.

To those who question the struggles of programming both genuine and sarcasm (yes I enjoyed your humor), programming for a flightsim at this level is like building a house of cards. The slightest change to something at the foundation can bring the whole thing crashing down in a way you least expect.

The WXR is just a module done by HiFi Simulation. This is definitely not the hold up.

It really has to be something gamebreaking for us.

I think any decent human being would be more than understanding of your team needing a break.  Sounds like it has been a hard push during the dev cycle, and family/personal health always comes first.

Also, previously I was one of the people that would cry out for more updates and I need to say lately the updates have been fantastic!  Or, perhaps it is because I am just so busy now and thus there are nice surprises when I have time to check the message board.  My poor wife, when I read the PMDG 777 was released on P3D all I said was "gotta go!" and retreated into the office.  Please don't judge :)

Again, thanks.

Never said anything about the module itself, just saying that it may not be playing nice with the NGX's coding due to the NGX's age.

I think this is the age of the NGX coming back to haunt it, it was made earlier in PMDG's career and thus its coding may not be as simply or easy as it was for the T7 - While i do think there were some problems with steam edition compatibility, steam edition doesn't work /that/ differently than the boxed versions of FSX, so i would think those problems would of already been solved, the weather radar may be posing more of a problem due to new technology being interfaced with older tech - sometimes they just don't like to get along at first.

That's a nice theory, but it's not reality.

First, as has been mentioned several times, the product was purchased without checking the compatibility. While I can fully understand a little frustration that it doesn't work in the sim you're using, I'm getting rather tired of this continuous muted flaming we're getting because of it. The page doesn't mention compatibility at all, and you clearly didn't reach out to us to ask before purchasing.

While FSX:SE seems to be very similar, it's just different enough to cause us (and just about any other developer out there) to require a separate installer for the program. These differences can cause all kinds of different problems that aren't major, but just minor enough to cause difficulties.

Second, the weather radar was added a while ago and we really haven't touched it. It has nothing to do with taking a new technology and adding it into an older interface.

One question regarding the "DVD solution": I am a DVD customer but I don't want to use the FSX:SE version, just the "normal" FSX version. - Will there be a Service Pack available for the old FSX version (without FSX:SE), or do I have to wait for the alternative solution including FSX:SE even if I don't need SE-compatibility?

They're one in the same. Consider it as all FSX updates that happen to have an installer option to handle FSX:SE installs.

If you don't have any news don't say anything! Repeat every time the same thing is nosense.

"Starfighter" - by your post count I can see that you're new here. If you'd been around longer, you'd probably be more familiar with a slightly more vocal group that asks for updates all the time, even if there's nothing to update in particular. As you can see, we really can't win here. Some will criticize us for not wasting time to repeat old news, while others criticize us for saying the same thing over again. RSR's original post noted at the very beginning that a lot of it was simply copy/paste.
