Am paraphrasing, but jist was that PMDG used the SDK when creating 777 for P3D and would have been happy to use any other tools; had they known of their availability.

Lockheed's position was that the tweak was not publicized, as it doesn't work in Windows 8.

Thanks for the input guys. For what its worth, I will tell what I discovered last night. I looked up a thread by Vic in which he details his P3D , Ni & Nvidia control panel settings, which I was interested in as his hardware was the same as mine ( 2 x GTX 970 in sli)  I copied all his settings and my performance tanked, under 20 FPS. I got to thinking and started again from scratch with a fresh .cfg file and wiped the NI & control panel settings. My reasoning was that why chase performance by stressing the GPU's pushing out all that antialiasing etc, when I have a 4K monitor? Sure enough, just using the in game aniso setting of 16 and no antialiasing, I have superb clear rendering and my FPS pretty much doubled. I locked it at 30 FPS and the sim is silky smooth and awesome even in full clouds using A2A planes.

So, as long as you have a GPU capable of running the resolution for the 4K monitor, this may be an easier way to approach the problem, if you dont mind investing in a new monitor.

Now I just have to figure out the optimal tweaks for the photoscenery loading .....

Cheers, Mark

Hi Mark,

have you retained or have you removed the SLI?

I have 2 GTX 980, but I can not make them work in SLI, crazy stutters.

Thanks

Geesh guys, don't you ever check the P3D forum, you know....the guys who actually made this product....

I realize that this is a very l o n g  t h r e a d but, do try at least 'skimming through' it... :Big Grin:

Hey Mark - I assume you did leave the SLI settings in NVCPL, correct but did nothing with them in NVI?

Hi Mark,

are you experience better FPS with OP=1 and A2A planes?

I removed OP=1 because it was giving an huge FPS hit to me, using A2A P51, Cherokee (FSX native) and also C172 (P3D native) in orbx PNW scenery.

tks

Later tests shows bad perfomane of optimize parts with a2a aircrafts. Expecially not native ones. With fps unlimited max fps 40 in ftx norway wild areas, 50-60 with op=0. A2a p51d (it is fsx native). Also noticed a little less difference with a2a c172 (p3d native). Do not use op for a2a planes that is my exp. Anyone having bad results with a2a or other ga?

I have had no issues with A2A or Milviz aircraft (at least the 172, Cherokee and 182 and Baron B-55: all P3D native). The fps gains are minimal, mainly 1-2 fps, but are there nonetheless- and certainly no fps losses. In fact, I have yet to experience an aircraft from any developer that actually loses fps with OP=1 and wouldn't understand why if it did. Some of my other FSX aircraft perform brilliantly in P3D as well with OP=1- for example, Classics Hangar Fw190.

I can't understand too... but the FPS loss is there and i see reading this long thread that others are experiencing FPS losses with OP=1.

Hope LM explains that...

Well, they did say that OP=1 involves 'some overhead'. So, I suppose if you haven't got that overhead to spare in the first place, then you'll see some performance loss. Makes sense really!

What are your system specs?

Hi Ebs my specs are:

I7 4790k @4.7 R9 270x @1.2

I am not a programmer and english is not my primary language, can you explain the meaning of "have overhead to spare"? I can't understand

Tks

ah sorry Alessandro,

overhead being 'some extra calculations' meaning that with OP=1, P3D is using some extra CPU/GPU cycles to perform the optimization.

I had a quick look through the thread and noticed 'badfinger' saying he saw a drop in FPS. He's on an older nVidia 5xx and I see you're using an ATI card, your CPU is better than mine though.

It seems there's a relationship between a drop in FPS and the GPU that's being used? I'm not saying that the R9 is a bad card, but it's been proven on multiple occasions that nVidia cards perform better in P3D.

Just for info I'm on a i5 3570k and a GTX 970.

I hadn't thought of that. I have a 3770K and a GTX980 and haven't seen any fps losses from OP=1.
