So you trawled through all of those "drag and drop" questions, and arranged them in order of importance? I couldn't be bothered, considering that 90% of them were irrelevant to me. I just dragged the handful of ones that mattered to me across to the "answer" section, completed the survey, and then realised that I had to drag them all across to be able to "upload" it to DTG Central Command. At that point, I put on my Duncan Bannatyne hat, and uttered the immortal words......."I'm out".

I took the options from the left box, put them in the right box, then dragged them up or down to be in the order of importance to me. I fail to see how that is so frustrating. You aren't required to drag and drop options that are not of importance to you (at least in the version of the survey I used). If you want to pick 3, then so be it, if you want to pick 10, that works as well.

Let me guess.... you want 64bit.

I'm not sure if we should receive an acknowledgment email when the survey is completed ?

The first time I sbmited it, three answer boxed were highlited in red, asking for proper completion, which I did, hit the "submit button" again, but that turn was just directed towards an advertisement page for the maker of the survey engine ?

Originally, not sure if this is still the case; but it was made clear that ALL options had to be dragged over to complete the survey.

Same for me,  I done the survey within 5 minutes of it being posted and didn't drag everything over and at failed to send.  I tried again to make sure and still it wouldn't go through saying I had to drag everything over.  They obviously changed it due to the first few responses in this thread.

The survey has been reworked. I saved my filled form (which was not accepted then) and compared them. They amended several questions.

I hope that the folks at Dovetail can dismiss the ever present inconsiderate, intolerant blowhard who who manages to ruin a fair number of threads (not naming anyone but if the shoe fits). I'll do the survey later today.

In my case the shoe fits.

...which is precisely why Jeroen suspected that the survey had been altered before you completed it. When he, myself and a few others tried it, we had to drag and drop ALL of the options. I really couldn't be bothered going back to do that when the results would have been meaningless.

Anyway, they have obviously modified the survey since then, so I may go back and complete it when I have a spare ten minutes.

I completed the survey within hours of it coming out and when there was 1 reply in this thread. So you are incorrect.

Odd. Because within an hour there were already a few replies in this thread. And I tried to complete the survey within half an hour. If you completed it within hours it indeed had already been changed.

Exactly.

Not that all of this really matters... although it's not nice being called incorrect when you aren't. ;)

If I were the topic starter I would have jumped in with something like: "We apologize to the first takers, there were a few issues with the survey which have been corrected now. Thank you for your patience." This would have made most of this whole discussion, including the shoes, obsolete.

And, of course, Jeroen is right. #14 reads now:

(Items are rank from the highest, number 1, to the lowest. Please drag and drop from the box on the left into the box on the right. You can re-order the box on the right by draging items up and down. Please note, you need to arrange all of the boxes in order for the question to be answered).

In my saved copy (very early on) it was:

That was brutal.

I wanted to make sure DTG knew what was important to me in terms of real world enhancements and add-ons (free and pay/3rd party).

Agreed about the apology. And I rest my case. ;) (Glad to see I wasn't mistaken about that 'right to left' either: I almost began to doubt myself.) And btw the text still isn't clear because that 'you need to arrange all the boxes' doesn't make sense at all. In the beginning you had to DRAG all the boxes in order for the question to be answered, rearranging never was a problem, but right now you don't need to drag or rearrange 'all the boxes' at all. That sentence has become redundant.

I think it is a typical case of 'lets rush it out Friday afternoon before the weekend' without actually checking and testing properly.

Hope they will be a tiny bit more mindful when they rush out the flight sim.

Dovetail, in case you did not know, we are a picky bunch and everything has to be just right  or  =@

Most of what is said on the Internet may be the same thing they shovel on the regular basis at the local barn.

Well that was not too painful. I suppose you need to have a lengthy survey to collect meaningful info, so yes some of it was irrelevant and a bit boring to complete, but you need a broad spectrum to get a realistic opinion base.

Make a plausible living breathing world as good as what we see in GTA V for PC.

Offer high quality aircraft with realistic systems and handling.

Realistic weather and lighting.

This pretty much.

Current sims do much of what I (and that will not be the same as anyone else) need from a flight simulation, in terms of the actions and systems of flight, as a non pilot.............. and though it will be considered shallow to some, its a move forward in graphics and world/weather/lighting modeling (yes, a living breathing world) I desire the most. Along with the continued involvement from the talented third party developers that make the most of what the base sim offers. Visually, nothing is left from my base sims of FSX and P3D and I want that level of personal customization to be allowed to continue.

I'd love to provide feedback to Dovetail but had to give up during the first drag-and-drop question.  This is one of the worst survey designs/interfaces I've ever seen.  I say that as someone who has to deal professionally with surveys - guiding the development, and working with and interpreting the results.  If Dovetail wants to redesign this so that, for example, it includes a "not applicable" category that gets me out from under having to reorder drag-and-drop items that I don't use or have any opinions about... and reprograms the tiles so you don't have to keep re-ordering them in the right-hand box... I'd be very happy to participate.  I'll watch this space for a revised version.
