September 25, 20169 yr Also noted is that LM stated they strongly recommend ONLY to update "client" as there are only few improvements in the other two. Michael Moe Michael Moe
September 25, 20169 yr If I was on 3.1 I would be temped to try a client only update to 3.4 first and see how it goes. If you're going to reinstall the lot anyway, then I assume there is nothing to lose. It might just work perfectly. The last two updates I've only added the new client and my sim is working as it should.
September 25, 20169 yr Hi, how to get back default normal VC eyepoint (everything was fine P3.3.2 and P3.3.5) but now in 3.4 is a default VC view totally disoriented (outside airplane and the view flickers) and some sort of setup doesn`t work (eyepoint can`t move anymore though buttons are set in Control setting). I have experimented with replacing some files for example changed cameras.cfg and Controls with previous version files, also Prepar 3D.cfg (in ...AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3) but not result, VC default view still persists. Because I could not to work P3.4 with Client uninstall/install then i had to do full P3.4 install and that means, that this view problem is completely in default installation (no addons). Never before had behaved so strangely simulator (since Fs9,Fsx, P3dv1,2,3)! i have Windows 7 and Saitek X52 and NVidia GeForce (no Occulus). if anyone has any idea ?
September 25, 20169 yr From 3.1 to 3.4 I think it would be better to update all three. There have been a lot of changes in content and scenery since 3.1 Lee H i9 13900KF 64GB Ram 24GB RTX 4090
September 25, 20169 yr When you Uninstall the 3 Components Client, Content and Scenery you will notice that all 17 Default prepar3D folders will be gone ( Add On's will hold onto some of the folders likes effects and sounds and so on as they will have 3rd Party software files in them Only, everything else will be gone So by Updating the 3 components this would be classed as a Full Install. The content Update will have the biggest effect, Removing and Updating 11 of your default folders, The issue you may have is if 3rd party software that Modifies default files as apposed to adding Extra files (these are not touched) For folks that have any kind of experience (even small) these issues are small and easily worked around. ========= In this Update all 3 Components were Updated and if You wanted all 3 Updates........ For complete and utter piece of mind you could Uninstall Prepar3D and everything "Inside Only" your Prepar3D folder and then start from scratch again, If your going down this road make sure you Delete all 5 Prepar3D Directories\Folders, 6 if you Included your Install Location before you Install again. Maybe the next Update will be mostly a Client one, so you could just Update Client only. Either way works good. Thank you so much. The links in your signature are absolutely invaluable. I am so impressed with your contributions to Flight Simulation. Just curious, do you work in the industry? Also, do you have any YouTube videos out?
September 25, 20169 yr I upgraded yesterday ONLY THE CLIENT as instructions and I have to say my initial thoughts are smoother flight and slightly less VAS. All good in my opinion. September 25, 20169 yr Well, I finally got up the courage to go from 3.2 to 3.4 this afternoon. I did a survey on Facebook about which version was most popular, and 3.4 was the clear winner, so I figured it was worth the gamble. I have to admit, upgrading the Client was a snap, once I uninstalled 3.2 and clicked on the client msi, it took only a couple of minutes, and so far everything seems to be working. I was surprised, that it retained all my settings. Now to go on a flight. BTW, has anyone else noticed that the academic license text now shows up in the upper right corner of the sky rather than in the menu bar just above that?

That's always been like that. Yay! I got in first. The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA

Does this line in Red mean that when you do a Complete Install of V 3.4 everything is ok ? 1) I understand that you said you "experimented with replacing some files" But after you Updated Client V 3.4 did you actually Rename or Delete the Prepar3D.cfg ? Did you let Prepar3D build a New Prepar3D.cfg after you Updated Client V 3.4? 2) Did you try Renaming or Deleting your Cameras.cfg and letting Prepar3D build a New Camera.cfg ? Thank you so much. Also, do you have any YouTube videos out Hello. I have only contributed to one of the Links in my Signature (The ones inside my Profile) The CTD guide was done by Jim Young and the Prepar3D Guide was done by Rob Ainscough I have quite a bit to go yet before i get near there level of Knowledge

September 26, 20169 yr On my system, the academic text was always in the menu bar all the way on the right. Same here.... it was one line up - now it's basically on screen. Which is fine, I just crop it out for screenshots. I've updated ok - no discernible FPS/vas difference. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
September 26, 20169 yr I'm running 3.3.5 Professional now. If I just install the Client to get 3.4.9, I can't help but feeling that I am neutering the sim a little as the Scenery and Content and all the rest of the 9GB of P3D files (the Client is a measly 128MB or so of that) is still in a previous version. Fighting the urge to reformat the PC and start again. I know it is a hassle but short term pain for long term peace of mind simming. At least I know that for the next few months (until the next version release), I will have a true v3.4.9, as good as it gets, not half baked. As it is, the Client update requires (if my understanding is correct) a reinstall of FTX Global and Vector, REX, updates to AS2016 and FSUIPC, Q400 etc.... So I'm thinking, just do it 'properly' first time. Anyone else think like this or is it just me? No I am with you, many things went wrong when I run the update, AS2016, FSUIPC issues, my saitek modules when trying to calibrate via sim it crashes to a point I have to get to the bios to get windows to boot back. I am going to wait and reformat my P3D drive and start from scratch. Asus Rampage VI Extreme Encore(water Cooled) EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 Hybrid, 64 DD4 @ 2800 2 x 2x M.2 in raid 0.

After uninstalling previous version all files deleted and P3.4 rebuilding new files.Testing started only after that, if it was not normal eyepoint after P3.4 fresh install. Also reinstall P3.4 Client again (meanwhile, once again deleted necessary files) but with VC default views i have anomalies (saltatory view and default VC eyepoint is completely misplaced) and eyepoint can`t moved with specified controls).
