X-Plane 11 Beta 5 is out

Featured Replies

Thanks but the last time I updated Xplane I lost all my control settings.

because there are changes to the actual controls between beta versions. I wouldn't try to reuse them but you can always save a new default and pick a filename to back them up.

Just had a great flight across Michigan at dusk, in B5

If I could morph XP11, with XEnviro 1.06, with XP's best lighting system in all sim-dom, to world-wide photoreal from Aerofly FS2, and with the sim, cranked up, get 60 FPS and never under...I would just call it;  Mitch Sim, and be done with it...lol.

Another great XP11 flight on the log....

I'm not really seeing an increase in performance fps wise with pb5, maybe even a decrease.. still getting flickering random textures as well.. flyinside xp ATW rates have decreased all things held equal too.. i had to do some disabling shadow tweaks to fix it.

I haven't seen any FPS improvement either, but Lam stated not to sweat it yet.  I've had no decrease in FPS performance from B1-----B5, so that is a good thing.  I had one crash on first use of B5...but then it has loaded out to the airport since.

I think a had a slight decrease in frames with this build and a little flickering in the cockpit of the 738.

Hi Rich, That forum didn't help, but I did find the solution at:

http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/topic/113076-x-plane-11-beta-4-is-out/ by simon76. It required editing the navdata file with only 4 characters. Thanks for your help.

Welcome any time

great shots Mitch

I dont think you will see any fps improvement until you actually see the sky banding issues get sorted out around that time is probably when we will see fps improved - that said its still butter smooth if your not looking at them

Also.. some people mentioned map improvements.. i'm not sure what improved.. also.. when i first open the map i get a flickering square.. if i toggle vfr sectional it levels out and looks like the old map to me? Still locked to a narrow region around the plane.. no ability to move the plane or see the whole region, say USA scale like with Aerofly. Also the red dot to close the map doesnt work for me

I just updated to beta 5 and not surprisingly I got another 30-40% cut on frame rates on top of the same cut by beta 3!. Beta 2 was fabulous though.

On heavy Ortho4XP scenery, I'm from >20fps in beta 2 now all the way down to 6-8fps! If each future XP11 beta keeps doing this I'll be dead for sure.

I gave up on hopes on new betas. I'm putting together a new 7700K system and that is my last hope to rescue the XP11 performance.

your doing something wrong from the start if you have 6-8 fps, do you have ai traffic off?

Seems like performance has dropped in beta 5. Test flight from SFO-LAX ended up in crash :(

Installed pb5. Loaded up Bella Coola with the new vFlyteAir Cherokee with the Aspen. Currently in flight towards a new version of Anahim Lake (AJ4) that I spent a good part of my 'work' day putting the finishing touches on.

Seems to be the exact same performance that I had with pb3 - decent, but could use improvement.

To be honest, it looks and feels almost exactly the same as pb3. I don't know if I can tell the difference at all.

I tried Beta 5, but I don't see any change in the effect of propeller on yaw.

I don't either :fool:.

Has anybody notice the sun is missing now ?
