FSLabs A320 for P3D - so is it worth it?

Featured Replies

Hi. Is there a simulated copilot and audible checklist like there is with the Aerosoft? I love the idea of a more realistic 320 but the copilot and checklists help in critical stages of flight. Just curious.

more realistic

Its not more "realistic" its in a totally different league.

If you like and need them AS copilot and checklists then this is a huge jump. But the Airbus is very automated and really its easy solo. You just need to know what your doing.

Hopefully FS2Crew at some point may help with this, e-mailed Bryan and he says he's waiting to see what will happen re: SDK, but considering others have managed to hook into the values of the airbus it's a shame he's not going to do it since he technically did with the 777 for the ECL...

Even a quick 'lite' port of the aerosoft fs2crew with that SOP would add so much immersion to this.

I don't believe there are any kind of automated checklists as part of the real Airbus? That is why FSL A320 doesn't have them. The only realistic option is IMO an F/O-addon.

Woozie, FPS increase while paused is normal. In any scenario.

I haven't had such problems on my system, done couple of flights and numerous tests on the ground, loading, reloading, etc.

thanks david, yes i've seen that as well. But i'm also getting bad FPS with clear skies and no AS16 weather. It all started to happen with the most recent FSL A320 update. Must be some calculations going ballistic in the background. As soon as i pause the sim my FPS increase by 50%.

Does this also involve very blurry ground textures.  I had this happen on a departure out of MMMX and couldn't figure out what the problem was.....ended up saving the flight and restarting and everything was perfect after that.  I don't want to blame FSL for this because it could have been anything and I have not been able to reproduce it.

I wanted to fly from CYVR to KSFO, i had oom before i reached the runway at CYVR :(. Available VAS started at 1300 Mb, all i did was changing point of view with a middle mouse inside the cockpit, preparing everything for a flight, VAS was slowly bleeding out during the preparation time, started taxiing with 450 mb left, and just before reaching the runway 08R boom! Never experienced something like this befoe :(

Did you load a panel state in after loading the aircraft in? I've had this happen before when I loaded a panel state from the menu rather than firing it up from cold and dark. Not sure if its related to that but thats what it seemed like. I was sitting doing nothing and literally my VAS was dropping before my eyes. Reloaded it, started from cold and dark and it was absolutely fine.

loaded piper, turned it off, loaded the bus in cold and dark state

It does seem to consume quiet a bit of VAS as you fire up the plane from cold and dark. If I start the scenario with say 1.4gb vas remaining, by the time the aircraft is fired up and ready for take off I'll be sitting at 800-900mb remaining. But in the particular instance I was referring to I was literally not even moving in the cockpit and my vas went down and down. But that has only happened for me on one occasion. I'm usually able to fly a couple of legs without restarting if I'm not flying into mega airports.

Well...I put it aside till the good times. Yes, $150 is big money, but my nerves cost much more :-)

Alternative - I need to cut-off almost all the whistles and bells of P3D visuals I used to live with. That's unacceptable for me.

I am just testing now, sitting at the runway at the Milan Linate airport, with NGX i have 1100 mb free, almost the same values with the bus. +-20 mbs. Mind you that in both instances airplanes were up and running. Paned, zoomed, outside, inside, no big change or difference, VAS would fall by 100 Mb but it would recover. Frames were exactly the same in the cockpit (40-45), ngx had better outside fps performance (steady 60), bus had 50-55 fps.

If I tell you turning anti-ice on also changes the way the Bus taxies due to the higher engine fuel flow required for the increased bleed demand, will it help? :)

All in all the reviews are super positive. It looks as there is attention to every small detail.

I know, but normally not by this much. It went from smooth to stutterfest when i updated to v93

anyways, the devs seem to be aware, hope its gonna be fixed soon

No, terrain remained sharp. I only get blurry ground textures when using an affinity mask (and only with openLC EU)

LOL, I just a had a huge a-ha moment! I never thought that I'll have to google and youtube the internet for something this trivial...

First, I was amazed how they modelled sounds, in a manner of hearing what's outside etc. Try running brake fans, and then open exits. Nice, right? But... try opening cockpit windows! That's what I call immersion.

But wait... try to close them... (I really had to google it!).

So yeah, worth it :)
