July 9, 20178 yr At first, autogen popping is much less noticeable than in Prepar3d3 on my system. Its visibility depends on a number of factors like weather, possible shader tweaks etc. There are regions where I don't notice it at all but there are others (like the plains in Silicon Valley) where I still find it distracting. There is a parameter AUTOGEN_DRAW_DISTANCE under SCENERY which regulates this. It defaults to 30000.000000. Raising it to, say, 45000.000000 mitigates the remaining autogen popping, however at the price of (i) remarkably longer Prepar3d startup times, (ii) a noticeable fps loss. July 9, 20178 yr Author @pmb thanks, i havn't tried that, however the more alarming fact is i dont have any autogen whatsoever after about 5min. Its like P3D just gives up loading it. I dont even have blurries, the textures are pin sharp. Intel 10900k @ 5.1 HT on, Nvidia 3090, 32GB RAM @3800mhz, 1TB NVME Drive (P3Dv5.1), 1440p 48' Ultrawide Monitor.
July 9, 20178 yr Do we have a feel for how much autogen loads the CPU in V4? I was under the impression that autogen rendering had been pushed primarily to the GPU, but I will defer to others more knowledgeable on the topic.
July 10, 20178 yr Try the AG Distance slider. If set to the left you will see almost nothing. From Medium (12000)in the P3D.cfg file ) and upwards you will see lots of AG. Surely you will have to set both AG vegetation and buildings sliders also to more than all the way to the left... 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0
July 10, 20178 yr I have exactly the same problem. I have reinstalled the sim, drastictly reduced the settings but still have have these problems flying the fast jets. Running with a 4790K at 4.6 and a 1080ti. All suggestions i've read till now don't seem to fix the problem
July 10, 20178 yr Add TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=10 in your Config. This will stop the autogen popping, this will use almost all of your VRAM though. --Sean Hart

Task Manager will display core usage but only for the last minute. Try MSI Afterburner - you can set it up to monitor all of the individual CPU cores in the Monitoring tab of the properties. It will show about 10 minutes of usage. i7-14700k | Asus ROG STRIX Z790-F Gaming WIFI | 32GB DDR5 RAM | MSI RTX 4080 Super | WD Black SN850X 1TB & 2TB | Corsair HX1000i ATX3.0 | MSI MAG401QR 40" monitor | Win 11 Pro 64-bit | Meta Quest 3
July 11, 20178 yr I've also been having this autogen issue with v4 - I've created a thread on the LM forums but haven't had any feedback yet: http://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6312&t=125808 I've just done a "quick and dirty" test: With settings pretty much maxed out I took off from Manchester EGCC in the Carenado Citation and flew to Gatwick EGKK but stayed at 3000ft @ 280knts the entire flight and I had thick, luscious autogen out to the horizon for the entire flight. Restarted the sim, same settings and the same flight - but this time I climbed hard out of EGCC to FL300 then bascially glided back down on approach to EGKK. In this second sceneario I had the autogen problem, once I descened through the cloud base at around 5000ft and the ground came into sharp view I had absolutely no autogen to the horizon in any direction. I flew on at 4000ft for about 4 minutes and some autogen started to sporadically render, it wasn't until I paused the sim for about 1 minute that my autogen came back to normal! All other elements of the scenery were perfect - beatiful sharp textures. No lag or stuttering and my fps were solid the entire flight. Odd! Replacing client puts the shaders back to the original, just something to think about--When I use PTA I eventually end up with problems with sunlight, I can change view direction and sun on ground and other objects disappear , change view and it's sunny again. This got to be irritating so I reinstalled client to get original shaders again. Then view directional changes don't play with sun effects, I forget, start using PTA and end up with the same "sun" problem. The last week or so I have stayed a way from PTA and I still have sunlight without the view changes losing it. If you fly for a while without PTA you get used to it. I find it a lot better than making a 180 turn and either losing sun when it should be there or gaining it when I shouldn't. I can only attribute this problem with playing with the default shaders. Mike I consider Process Explorer a great tool to watch your pc activity whilst in sim. You do realize that you don't need to reinstall the client to get back the original shaders? PTA has an option to revert back to them.

Interesting... i may do some tests as i've found this to start happening with my setup, and i couldn't remember if it was doing this or not before PTA.. i also have very annoying cloud shadows popping in and out of the periphery of my view when panning, using ezDok along with the sudden changes in colour/tone. Everything in sunshine one second and then everything in shadow/grey another..
