First reactions to P3Dv4.4

Recommended Posts

I am looking forward to 4.4 .

Is there a "easy" solution to all the scenerys i have installed in scenery.cfg by the old method or do they need to be reinstalled ?

There still is alot there.

Alternativ i could try just with the Client only i guess.

Thanks Michael Moe

I usually backup my old scenery.cfg for this reason and just drop it back in

I have the old method as well, and use Scenery Config, which is a beautiful beast. Start with the Client, and make sure to backup your Scenery.CFG (Always back-up, back-up, back-up)

Really??  It's the feeling you seen, or done something more than once.  Like living yesterday all over again.

I had Amnesia and De Ja Vu at the same time.

Just a minute........ I think I've forgotten that before!

It is easier to just uninstall P3D and re-installing it.

You only run 2 processes instead of 4.

S.

Here I will only un- and reinstall the Client as I have seen no important fixes/updates in Scenery and Content which would cause a FPS improvement ..

Let us know how it goes Michael, am planning on only Client update, but if you only need to back up the Scenery Config i might do the other two also. Using the way Jim did it, one at a time.

well,

Installed client only (Doing a major upgrade in the new year) and must say I am very impressed on first impressions.

SimStarter does not work so I loaded from the Prepar3d GUI and can confirm that load times most definitely seem faster. VSync off,Triple Buffering off and frames unlimited and I was holding a steady 40fps on my mid range system and it seemed smoother.

This is with Orbx FTX England coupled with UK2000 Leeds Bradford in the Just Flight Piper Warrior.

This point update arrived perfectly for me as I was just beginning to lean towards XPlane 11 but I have a huge investment in Prepar3d with add ons so it has breathed new life for me and to cap it off, venturing into Vatsim as well...

I can confirm SimStarter does not work but all UK2000 and ORBX do.

Hope this helps

Dave

Looks like business as usual at my end with no definite improvements in fps and certainly not the observed boost to the Aerosoft A320.

Maybe a new update encourages a placebo effect that all our woes have all be cured even if all the indications are that things have changed very little.

Hmm, that is disturbing. I don't expect any improvement in fps, despite what has been reported(??) But I am hoping, more than anything, to be able to run photoscenery without blurries and delayed loading

I believe due to the water rendering optimization which you refer to, you are having a "sub conscious" "ooo!" "aaaa!" reflex action. Welcome to the 4.4 club...😊

What I meant was that of course people will see performance improvements when they go from a totally add-on burdened old install of P3D to a completely fresh add-onless install. "Amazing! my sim runs so well withouth 876 add-ons installed to it!" lol!

It does.. who said that the auto gen hasn't been improved?..  you will be also unable to see the PBR models included by LM.

SimStarter will have an upgrade soon, it's in beta right now.

Well, as you must appreciate during Beta tests we were able to compare System A using 4.3 with X number of add-on's against System A using 4.4 with the same number of add-on's. Personally I saw a 10-15 FPS performance increase on 4K.

Professional beta testers like Rob A. were able to test things in a much deeper level and using different machines, and accordingly also noticed performance improvements on different things. so it is not a surprise to see people reporting similar results here.

Regards,

S.
