I will put this as a simple question: Does people that develop for XP11 use the SDK of XP10 or XP9???? Then why on earth people developing for P3D 4.4 cannot use the SDK for P3D 4.4? Some people are still using FS9 SDK tools for P3D... As user and developer (I am both!) I am not opposed if LM proceed to enforce SDK compliance, so if you want to develop for P3D 4.4 the relevant SDK must be used, same for future versions. S. Again, superb valid points hit square on the nail. All this 'oh-I-spent-so-much-on-et al' old hat arguments. Or is our hobby of one step forward, ten backwards? March 8, 20197 yr I concur with a new engine! New engine, with true lighting environment, realistic weather and cloud depiction and environmental conditions, which resemble the real world. One can only dream - although, I have a feeling, that Lockheed-Martin's priorities are in other areas... Best regards,--Anders Bermann-- ____________________Scandinavian VAPilot-ID: SAS2471
March 8, 20197 yr Better loading time (Initial sim loading , scenery loading) No more scenery blurries No more stutters. Better frame rates. Use of latest graphic techs like Vulkan. Patrice. Patrice Dubois

March 8, 20197 yr Loading times are apparently supposed to be improved in P3D v4.5, so hopefully we will not need to wait until v5 for that little gem Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester

March 8, 20197 yr Still don't have P3D but plan to make the leap soon. Will probably wait for v5. A big reason why I have remained on the sidelines is what many have stated here, i.e. that the terrain engine is basically the same as FSX and still has the same old problems like blurries and stuttering. Therefore, here's what I'd like to see in v5: 1. Improved terrain engine That's all. Don't care about backward compatibility or fancy little niche features that can be provided by 3rd party addons. Dave Simulator: P3Dv6.1 System Specs: Intel i7 13700K CPU, MSI Mag Z790 Tomahawk Motherboard, 32GB DDR5 6000MHz RAM, Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Video Card, 3x 1TB Samsung 980 Pro M.2 2280 SSDs, Windows 11 Home OS My website for P3D stuff: https://sites.google.com/view/thep3dfiles/home
March 8, 20197 yr I just want to get rid of stutters. I think that is totally doable. For everything else third party add-ons can and will step in. March 8, 20197 yr I think P3Dv5 will be my last sim. My first Microsoft sim was Microsoft Flight Simulator 5.0 and will likely end with Prepar3D 5.0.
March 8, 20197 yr I just hope that when/if a completely new engine is introduced, LM will give the 3rd party developers a lot of head start so they can start to develop things. Backward compatibility should definitely be dropped (soon), but I don't even want to think about that pain of waiting for addons to catch up. Edited March 8, 20197 yr by threegreen
March 8, 20197 yr You know, one kinda frivolous thing I'd like to see included, that I'm honestly very surprised isn't, would be more Lockheed planes. Where's the SR-71? Where's the F-117? These are storied aircraft that represent the best of Lockheed, and they don't put 'em in their own flight sim, but they've got a submarine!? I know there was a freeware SR-71 that was pretty decent for FSX - you'd think they could license that pretty easily and just update the gauges and maybe tweak the flight characteristics, seeing as they literally wrote the book on the flight model.
