Excuse my nerdness but

Vector is neither  textures nor shaders, it is vectorized coastlines and networks (roads, RR, rivers etc) = scenery

OpenLCs are also sceneries, it is a map structuring the landclasses

The only textures products at OrbX are Global, HD Trees and HD Buildings now.

PS how could I forget the Garmin 750 in  my list ?

ORBX Global Freeware NA Airport Pack

Don't forget the AI Traffic pack also.

for me it's GA Aircraft

  • A2A 182
  • 310R Redux modified
  • PC12

Utilities

  • AS4P3D
  • GTN750's
  • Little Nav Map + Map Pack

Scenery

  • All Orbx NA regions
  • Zinertek HD Airports
  • Orbx Airport and Ai Traffic packs

If you look at L52 on Maps there's literally a campground beside it at that location.

everything is "nice" but not "essential"
nice would include Pilots Mesh, Orbx, Flightbeam all, Flytampa, etc.
honorable mention:  LatinVFR, Aerosoft sceneries

Aircraft:

 PMDG 747v3

Leonardo FlyTheMaddog

Flysimware Falcon 50 (close tie with the DA-62, but at the end of the day, I like private jets)

Utils:

Active Sky, of course.

Pilot2ATC (it's not exactly perfect, but it's way better'n stock)

Navigraph

Airports:

Flightbeam KMSP, KSFO, and I'd have a real hard time choosing between KIAD and KDEN.

Textures:

Activesky Cloud Art.  And that's the only texture changer I have, so no others in this category unless Orbx counts for textures as well as scenery, in which case Base and the North America stuff.

I used to be a jet guy until i bought Majestic's Q400. That plane completely changed my preferences because it obliges the pilot to be constantly alert. Less automation, more hand flying, more use of nav/adf radios, more manual calculations (TOD, for example), more difficult to handle under turbulence and wind and much more weight sensitive, not to mention landings under bad weather conditions.

All these things you almost don't have to worry about when flying jets. To me, all this  means a more challenging flying session which surpasses in my opinion the supposed in - depth found on study level aircrafts, the likes of pmdg or FSL, who make good products, no discussion about that.

All that said, my two other favorite aircrafts are  Flysimware Mitsubishi MU2 (very tough cookie to tame) and Carenado's Shorts 360 (lots of things to take care-of while flying).

Utilities, Active Sky, because augments realism and flight sim commander because forces you to really understand flight plan construction.

Shades, ORBX products, all of them, for the realism.

Regarding sceneries, none in particular.  I modify and fine tune all the airports i care about with airport design editor (afcad's evolution).  To me, that's more than enough.

@All: thank you all for participating. It's interesting to see how diverse are our priorities 😉

@domkle: yes you are right (of course). I confess I somewhat simplified and tried to avoid too much addons fallling into one category.

(I don’t really care whether these are really textures, shaders, sceneries, or utilities.  They all change the look of my sim, and so to me they’re textures/shaders.)
