So thank you Microsoft and Asobo for listening so intently to the community and working toward making our simulation dreams come true.

Microsofts approach to this project is what I am excited about the most!

It seems thought-through from beginning to end. The alpha is an ultimate proof for that. They want feedback from the community, to polish the game before its release. I think forums like this also play a role. And maybe even some trolls contribute a little. 😄

Don't expect it to be perfect. There are thousands of simmers that all know what's best. 😉 If MS keeps up their good work, they will support it far after release and provide updates.

To be honest, if they maintain this approach to release and beyond, the sim can't fail. And that's great for us and great for MS and Asobo. We all win.

Well I will tell you why? Some people are genuine, have genuine concerns.

The genuine basic concern we may have, Martin, is how much the real sim differs from the lovely pic and video teasers which show the best of it. No cynicism but no credulity either.

Only the alpha testers know for sure. But we do also have an idea with the alpha testers screenshots that MS has the honesty to show with some warts. That is why we should not refrain to tell what we think is wrong, or at least we don't like. That is to play the action/reaction PR game that MS has embarked upon in June last.

Simming since 1981 -  [email protected] GHz with 16 GB of RAM and a 1080 with 8 GB VRAM running a 27" @ 2560*1440 - Windows 10 - Warthog HOTAS - MFG pedals - MSFS Standard version with Steam

So much can change!

The testers have an Alpha release, then comes Beta testing, then comes RC testing, then Gold/Release candidate.

And still so far to go. So much to look forward to.

Nice update. Love the pictures. It once again shows that Asobosoft are listening.

Awesome building, very low resolution texture on the ground, anyone have any idea where is this? Also I suppose this building was modelled the rest autogen. And I Also see a lack of 3d autogen trees and cars possibly because of thr low res satellite image.

Thoughts?

This is the Palace of Science and Culture in Warsaw, Poland. Agree that the Palace itself appears to be specially modeled but everything else is autogen. There are some unique skyscrapers around it in real life that are just standard-looking tall buildings here.

Sure, the satellite image is a bit low-res, but honestly this still looks great to me. That's compared not just to stock FSX/P3D, but even compared to the payware Warsaw scenery by Drzewiecki.

Good heavens, those pictures!!!

And then to think back of my first flightsim, FS4.

Come to think of it, all in all Microsoft has been giving me a lot of pleasure in life over the last 30 or so years.

And the best is yet to come!

There are lots of dark buidlings on the right side as well. Some have very dim lights, some seem totally dark. Compared to others right next, that are lit up like christmas trees, it looks a bit weird. 😄

Yes, I see that now. Previously I was looking at the picture on a tablet and I hadn't noticed. Now on my full-size PC, it's not so great. Oddly, some of those buildings have some lights but are mostly dark. Hmmmm.

As being said, this is Warsaw - Palace of Culture and Science.

But we already have few more skyscrapers around 😉

Unfortunately Warsaw is still "flat" in Bing maps 😕

I love lighting anyway.

The thing for me that continues to set MSFS apart from every other sim visually, is the combination of the lighting, and particle/alpha effects with the weather.  The sunlight diffusing through mist and fog.  The belts of rain from the clouds.  The subtle scattering and colouration of the smoggy air above a city.

Stuff like that is what makes this sim look ineffably real to me, far more than ground texture quality, or 3D trees, or autogen buildings, etc.  All of that stuff obviously helps greatly, but it's the airspace in these pictures and videos that always strikes me the most.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the "Microsoft Flight Simulator 1.1.5.0" in the left top corner.

Compared to Bing Maps Warshaw is flat, but compare the Palace of Culture and Science and the surrounding scyscapers with the view in Google Earth! It is a pity, that all these 3D buildings have to be constructed twice, for Google Earth and for MS Flightsimulator 2020.

There is a lot of work to be done to reach the level of Google Earth.
