Don't tell Merkel she has stated she expects 70% of The German population to go down with the virus, 70% of over 60million.

Source (translated in English): https://www.theeuropean.de/wolfram-weimer/coronavirus-welche-sterberate-ist-zu-erwarten/

"The number of laboratory tests plays a key role in assessing death rates. Too few tests can cause reported death rates to be distorted. That is why many doctors consider the WHO figure to be excessive. "Because most cases are mild cases and the tests are not universal, by definition we cannot recognize and count all cases," said Mark Lurie, professor of epidemiology at Brown University.

In South Korea is tested a lot. This means that many infections, even mild ones, are recorded. With around 7,500 officially infected people, South Korea only has 54 deaths - significantly less than one percent. The same is expected for Germany, where a differentiated laboratory landscape enables extensive tests. Lothar Wieler, President of the Robert Koch Institute, also mentions mortality around one percent as expected in Germany. In comparison to a flu wave, the statistical death rates of the coronavirus are “five to ten times as high”. But: These rates "are constantly changing because we don't have that many numbers yet." The one percent mark is increasingly seen as a realistic figure by most experts. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases in the United States also explains that the mortality rate could end up being only one percent. But even if it did, it would still be ten times the average seasonal mortality rate."

Btw, there are now over 80 million Germans!

But they were Basenjis! Which is great! I had a Basenji growing up - she sort of raised me.  Always happy to see them.  Helped brighten a thread that's kinda dark.  Thanks for that!

Since February 28, the Istituto Superiore di Sanità has verified in all deaths whether they are actually due to the virus.

Yes, actually, there is such a word.  "Effect" can be used as either a noun or a verb.  As a verb, it means "to cause, or bring into being", as in "The passage of the cold front will effect a change in the weather" or "The passage of the cold front is effecting a change in the weather."  https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/effect

If this proves correct, the draconian lock-down measures in Italy appear to be worthwhile:
(My emphasis)

Quote

Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio says he hopes his country will be the first in Europe to get over the emergency.
[...]
However, Mr Di Maio told the BBC the measures imposed in the first area of the outbreak were proving effective.

Two weeks after the first 10 towns in northern Italy were declared a "red zone" and put under lockdown, he said they had no new infections.

This then served as a model to tighten measures across the country.

That's got to be the first bit of good news in Europe.

On a personal level, I am today potentially showing the early signs of the virus. I'll probably be fine after a word not allowed two weeks or so of illness.

However, just 2 days ago I went to look after two dependent relatives who are highly susceptible to illnesses and if they caught the virus, it would very likely be life-threatening.
I maintained my distance and was religiously washing my hands and cleaned anything I touched as per the official advice. I'm absolutely paranoid and wracked with fear about whether that was sufficient to not pass anything on to them.

I really, really, really hope I only have a common cold developing...

Just don't panic

My friend lives in Wuhan, without any previous experience on simulator, he can now return from Mun, land safely, and now carsh landed on Duna in KSP.

Other more "ordinary" friend there learn how to cook since there is only regular supply of fresh fool, not cooked meal.

And I while not in the very bad area, we "work at home" for a month, with so much free time, I learnt how to use RXP GTN750, while make a round trip to laythe in KSP then...

Other than the bans I will go where I want to. I don't put my life in the hands of the media. Calm down.

Thank you.

Right you are. Just not in the context/meaning affect/effect is generally used.

If they have the tests. That's the problem in the US right now - there's a drastic shortfall. In a lot of places, tests are almost impossible to find.

The UK and word not allowed not doing enough in response to the virus epidemic,

 https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/coronavirus-trump-and-johnson-response-to-outbreak-like-watching-horror-film-says-italian-doctor/ar-BB116EXg?ocid=spartanntp

Dammed if you don't and Dammed if you do.

No, at this point just damned if you don't. They did nothing until few days ago, Trump claiming it was just a flu, Johnson being Johnson.
And all of this while being in an amazing position: being few weeks behind what is Italy dealing with. Now they are following the same exponential trend.

It is extremely sad to find no additional measures have been taken in those countries even tho they had a big advantage of time, let alone the fact that NONE of them in this so called "European Union" sent any help to their supposely italian friends. NONE. The only help we got, funnily enough, was from China. Yesterday an Air China A350 landed in Rome full of supplies, masks, respirators and other items needed for a ICU recovery.

The other sad part is hiding the deaths of coronavirus like Germany but also Russia are most likely doing, and being accused even of having spread it around Italy when it is a fact now that the coronavirus arrived in Italy via Munich and we were the first to block direct flights to China (and of course people just adapted and took flights to destinations in between)

Chock 1.1: "The only thing that whines louder than a jet engine is a flight simmer."
