Much appreciated. any one with reasonable understanding in P3D vs MSFS will know that there is a lot behind what I said (a free man just needs a hint), you may ask for clarification if you don't understand but it is not nice to be arrogant. But overall very happy with performance compared to other versions. Particularly in VR I have much better smoothness. Example: I can now fly around ORBX Southern California with much more eyecandy set than in previous versions. With the same hardware and P3Dv4.1 it was a stuttering mess. For the most part, I'm happy and P3dv5 works ok. It just gets me....when I'm on a wonderful scenic flight and the massive stuttering starts (FPS degrades). Sometimes I can change settings and things return to normal; sometimes nothing works and I shut down. Today, I'm going to do a complete re-install of V5. I didn't do that when HF2 came out. I just did Client, Content, and Scenery. I'm going to go through this because I'm stuck at home like most others at this time, and I'm curious to see if that makes a difference in V5 performance. I'm also going to take it off my M2 SSD and return it to my C drive (SSD as well). I'll save my M2 for MSFS2020. Today is going to be a big experiment day.....fortunately, I have the time. Stan
July 18, 20205 yr I'm afraid that just fulfilling the recommended specs regarding internet speed (which is 20 MBit) you're better off with P3D and good addons. Also one interesting question for me is how scenery and airport addons do seamlessly integrate with maybe changing streamed scenery. Karl i9-9900K@5,0 | 32GB 3200 | 2080TI | 4K 55" | MSFS | P3D V5

There are also other reasons to use MSFS, one of them being way more advanced atmospherics model - I think screenshots are here very clear. Edited July 18, 20205 yr by SimonC

As long as their is no way of a full hardware cockpit integration (in my case B738) it's not more than a nice arcade game, people can play with a joystick. July 18, 20205 yr after suffering weeks of ctds, dxgis, ive given up on v5. its terrible. they dont even bother to answer your posts on the forumn anymore. im sure they made a ton of money robbing some poor public sector department of tax payers money. but im out.
July 18, 20205 yr Graphics in the new sim can still be an issue because streaming high rez textures just isn't a no-brainer. Remember how much space X-Plane orthos take if you want them high rez? Try streaming those over the web in real time and you can imagine that P3D landclass scenery can still look crisper.

I really hope this ms2020 is worth waiting for. I don't have the blood pressure to deal with v5 until its stable. Its far from that. The text box issue, the cloud issue, the water issue, the going from windowed to full screen issue, dxgis, stutters, shame but they should of listened to the testers. It must of been a hell of a contract. Us minions will never know I guess. Edited July 18, 20205 yr by fluffyflops

It must of been a hell of a contract. Us minions will never know I guess. You are doing something very wrong, or using an inadequate system. v5 HF2 is a good sim with a few minor issues. I would take it any day over v4.5, and I love v4.5! I’m sorry, but suggesting that it is riddled with bugs like you suggest in this post is well into “fake news” territory. - there are no issues with the clouds whatsoever, unless you mean the beta EA clouds - which are clearly flagged as beta (but are still in their imperfect form much nicer than what we had in v4) - there is no “water issue”, water is substantially upgraded. - there is no problem going from windowed to full screen, i do that all the time. - dxgis should not be a problem in HF2 unless you’re using incompatible addons or setting sliders wrong. - v5 doesn’t stutter, it performs better and (much) more smoothly than v4. If you have decent hardware and common sense with sliders/addons, none of these issues should be of concern. Anyway, enjoy FS2020.
