September 2, 20205 yr I tried MSFS and come to the conclusion that it was built for the new comers to flight sims it is a game not a simulator if they want the hardened flight sim folk to take it on they have got a hell of a lot of work to do If you own a Xbox and still in your teens then go for it

Now that I have MSFS2020,It'll be hard to go back to looking at XP11 let alone P3D....to me (real world pilot) most of the immersion comes from graphics,then again I fly mainly GA in sim and FS2020 is great for GA airliners wise its pretty bad. It feels like a lot of "hardened flight sim folk" are really looking to reassure themselves that this nascent simming platform is no threat to whatever their platform of choice has been for the last X years, for a variety of reasons. It'd just be nice if more people could take a look at it with open arms, and see it for both what it does well now, and what it can be with months and years of updates and patches in response to feedback, instead of snarking about how add-ons are still a thing in it, or what have you. (This is a more general statement, not addressed to you) Personally, I suspect MSFS is very much going to be the simming platform of the future, and it's just a matter of fixing things that currently don't work right, and letting the add-on market catch up. But if people want to use P3D or XP, there's nothing wrong with that. It's a hobby, not a zero sum bloodsport.
September 2, 20205 yr yeah, i'm definitely chilled out & enjoying all the flight sims we have now, good times!

I feel giddy everytime I fly the default c172 in MSFS and marvel about the sick details of the landscape. Even the grove ahead of the grass strip were my club practice short landings with obstacles is there in MSFS. That is unreal. EASA PPL SEPL + NQ / CB-IR in progress MSFS24 | X-Plane 12

September 2, 20205 yr All I'm really missing is one good study level GA and one study level airliner. Until we get those I really have nothing to do in MSFS2020. Tomaz Drnovsek My FSX Videos My AVSIM Gallery

(This is a more general statement, not addressed to you) Nah. I'll drop P3D faster than you can say 'paid beta test' and move solely to MSFS once they fix the always-on turbulence, control sensitivity issues and the first high quality payware airliner arrives. I'm hopeful for "months and years of updates and patches in response to feedback", but as I explained in the 'For Years to Come .... Maybe ....' thread, Jorg Neumann's quote of 'Asobo are here to develop and improve MSFS for the next 10 years' is pure marketing spiel. If MSFS doesn't bring in the expected revenues, if Asobo's priorities are shifted to developing a new product, if economic circumstances change, we'll be left with a half complete flight sim. 10 years is a very long time. People come and go, the passion for flying shown Asobo and MS could disappear with a change of those in charge. MSFS has a lot of potential and it has very pretty visuals. It just isn't enjoyable as a flight sim at the moment. P3D (admittedly with all the bells and whistles included) does a much better job. I'd expect to get at least 3 to 5 years of good development in any case. They've probably got that much work ahead of them anyway. I'm still waiting for a version of P3D with streaming scenery. 😄 Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
September 2, 20205 yr it's actually rather bizarre the amount of people who head over to a P3D forum to bash it and defend msfs. Dare I say pathetic. If everything was as good as the few of you guys suggest why are you hear reading the P3D forum? It's also strange how emotional this gets to some people. I have both sims right now. I see some great things about MSFS. Very good shot it becomes the future platform. But as I've said before. It's not ready for my kind of flying. When I can fly very realistic 737/747/777/A320/MD88/717 equipment on vatsim with real weather and correct airport layouts then we are talking. Oh and at good performance in 4k. I did a flight the other day into Daytona Beach in the MSFS A320. I told myself to not worry about the airplane as in the future I'll be using something on a higher level. I was blown away by the scenery when landing at the airport. However then I got to the terminal and found no jetways. P3D is a 'game': you lose nothing when your plane crashes. Yes, of course it's a deep simulation, but ultimately it's just a game designed to learn from sure, but largely it's entertainment, just like all other games.
