Microsoft has set up a transparency procedure to tell us what they consider a priority and what is on the backburner. I would therefore consider anything else as wishful thinking.

You really do not understand what you are being told. Asobo do not show the whole changes list just the ones people have voted for. There is a list of all the other fixes/updates that will be in the patch that they keep to themsleves. As per the Update they will be releasing the patch details in the fullness of time. It is quite simple really but amazing how many people don't understand this.

I can’t say whether the flight architecture is based on solid foundations. Not an expert. Robert Young or Bernt Stolle could. The Young’s Bonanza mod seems to show that one can do something convincing out of it.  I just observe that the transparency tables tell us that there is no work on the issue anymore at Asobo for what should be indeed a top priority.

We keep on telling them this since the early alpha days. As we didn't get any response, we kept on telling us, hey this is just alpha, relax; once the sim is out, planes become more realistic. Has anything happened since then? I don't think so. I might be wrong, but by now I slowly start to believe they don't address these issues, because they don't know how to make them any better.

Any attempt to stretch fuel is guaranteed to increase headwinds

But only with respect to the stuff that got upvoted on their forums. They don't mention much at all about their progress in other issues, unless it's in the release notes of an update or in a Q&A video.

We will see, my friend. I would be delighted to be wrong on the matters which are of importance to simmers (flight dynamics, engine management, aircraft performances, weather).

But the first updates after release didn't bring much to these issues, did they ? And that there was no hint that I recall in the Q&A session that they wanted to work on them ?

Beside nothing forbids the team to talk about them even they are not be 'voted' by a few hundreds buyers but are widely discussed in  the forum.

Absolutely. They may not know to make them better but there are people who do know like Stolle, Young and a couple of them. If you remember what Martial Bossard said once that they were not interested by an engineer approach, they wanted to give the sensation of  the flight. Very commendable  ! Now if they could add a pinch of engineer approach ?

I think its worth mentioning that Asobo is doing a lot of other work that may resolve some of these community issues. People seem to think only 3-4 fixes are in this update but it is the Sim Update release so it should be quite a beefy update with lots of goodies.

It'll be telling. By the scale of this update and its focus.

Happy with MSFS 🙂
home simming evolved

I wish Asobo wouldn't spend time on trivial rubbish like tooltips and "press any key".

What this update tells me: Go on the official forum and start to vote or start a new Bug or Wishlist thread...

This voting system is a very powerful tool and I am still amazed about the few amount of votes.

I personally think the voting idea is not well thought out. It’s relying on people registering and using the MSFS forums.

The top issue over in the forums has 800 and odd votes.
How many thousands/hundreds of thousands of people use MSFS? And the top issue can’t even reach 1000 votes?

node-based Visual Effects System is about ready to be used in production by the internal team

This will be interesting. Finally splashes and wakes when you land on water. Contrails. Smoke. Etc.

@robert young , @Alex Metzger, @Bernt Stolle, @Nigel Richardson, @Manfred Jahn, @Jan Visser, @Bert Pieke and @Gordon Madison are EXACTLY THE SORT OF PEOPLE THAT ASOBO SHOULD BE REACHING OUT TO.  If they did, our new sim would transform into a superlative representation of desktop aviation. Commercial developers are hugely important- BUT THESE GENTS HAVE BEEN THE SALT OF THE ALTRUISTIC FS EARTH AND ARE THE SORT OF CONSULTANTS ASOBO NOW DESPERATELY NEEDS.

Altruism is good, to a point., I don't see any reason why these gentlemen couldn't be paid consultancy fees for improving faster the default aircraft.

No, No- THEY MUST BE COMPENSATED AT THEIR FULL VALUE... I speak of their altruistic history which only EMPHASIZES their current worth!

I went back and edited my post to be more clear. They are HUGELY VALUABLE and should be compensated as such.

This is exactly my point. I agree this voting system is not perfect but at least it exists! So we have to do with it.

Why people don't use it is a mystery to me. I genuinely don't like going on the official forum, I prefer AVSIM, but I go there to vote or propose ideas, because that's what they are waiting from us.

Of course we are allowed to discuss and debate on AVSIM but I think actually voting on their website or suggesting ideas in the Q&A section is more impactful.

The timing sucks for me - I could probably start it, but I'd be interrupted soon after and be able (in theory) to re-join for the last hour. Just wondering if there's any way I could spawn where everyone is at that point? Presumably there's be a relative mass of aircraft showing up on the world map in flight selection. I could load the flight plan and look along the route till I saw that group of planes, yes?

Yes, you can pick any of the player aircraft and spawn at their location, then slew forward in case the loading screen leaves you behind. If you are listening to the guided tour while flying, you'll want to stay as close to the guide and the group as possible.

Edit: And I wonder why they're not using live weather?😄

Probably because it can be unpredictable. In an earlier fly-in, at some point there was a nasty cloud creating zero visibility while flying low between the mountains.

I might have agreed if those weren't relatively easy to fix. That's a job for the UI designer or an intern, and the latter was a leftover from the preview builds anyway, not supposed to be included in the final release.

Originally the 'Press any key' prompt happened after all loading had taken place and immediately before the menu which was perfectly sensible. When you pressed a key the menu appeared immediately. At some point during the alphas some gormless plonker(s) decided to move it to its current nonsensical location.
