October 28, 20205 yr Nice to hear that the Honeycomb throttle is going to be supported, but maybe they can fix the persistent switch issues which affects the heading knobs etc. in both the Alpha Yoke from Honeycomb and other products as well before or when that update comes? I mean, that throttle quadrant has a bunch more of those switches on it and without a fix that's just more useless switches to unbind from everything. October 28, 20205 yr Hello Espent...replying to your entry.. They seemed to not know where to see the lightning issue in action...I believe that's what I heard...I had issues watching the live stream also. So, I gave them KJAN...Good ole, busy, popular Jackson, MS USA....I posted it on the forum over there also... Many times this week...it's been cloudy, scattered clouds....today with ANOTHER hurricane coming near...its just cloudy, rainy...but no storms. In the sim today and many of those other instances... lightning... Still though, it was good to watch until I lost the stream:-(. Hopefully soon, they'll straighten it out..but it is super annoying. Overall, good tone moving forward. Best, RBKJAN "I liked it. The only thing that didn't give me a warm and fuzzy feeling was when they talked about lightening. "We know about some reports about excessive lightening over Bahamas..."??? I see this pretty much everywhere. Surprised they did not know more about this. Its good to have the CEO representing, but maybe he should have some Senior Developers joining as well. Not just the head producer."

I still find that using live weather in the US and Canada very rarely reflects reality. That’s what they stated. Metar data is used at the airport at ground level, and is updated every 30 minutes. Once you get in the air it transitions over to meteoblue data. But may well model other avionic systems and displays. Nothing is going to be 'study level' in MSFS except 3rd party stuff. And that is expressly why Asabo needs to work post-haste on the SDK so that those 3rd party developers can get us there. I hope it is not lost on this community that there are more robust and accurate avionics available for FS9, not to mention FSX, FSX SE, P3D, and xPlane. Given the age from founding of FS9 and FSX, and even XPlane and P3D, that is a profound shortcoming. Loads of people on the msfs forums asking why the lack of ai traffic was not answered. Well if the question was "why is there no or so little ai traffic at airports?" them it would be answered. Half a page of questions to be answered on a live q&a only 1hr long is always going to be a mess. The community needs to come up with clear questions rather than vague rambling questions. The moderators in the MSFS forums have been merging together "related" topics/items that aren't exactly the same. It's hard to have clear specific questions when your item gets closed and the posts merged into another and the votes lost. I think the merging is a good faith effort to reduce duplicate items in the feedback summary, but it also makes it hard to have single items to talk about. And its hard to filter out the noise after a while. Which is why they said "Hey if you know this emails us at XXXX" they clearly know about it and want to fix things but troubleshooting when they cannot duplicate something is VERY difficult. Yeah, the feedback they receive will be a relentless firehose of input, and anything they don't directly speak to becomes "oh they are ignoring it". Must be a nightmare to collate all of that into a coherent plan of attack on updates and fixes. And then you throw in difficulty in replicating weird problems because of all of the complex moving parts interacting under the hood. I'd love to know what adverse code interaction is causing the increased lightning, for example. The answer probably isn't as straightforward as we might assume, lol.
October 28, 20205 yr Big mistake on their side is to not have a "state capture" tool, allowing making a snapshot of the sim state, for replicating the issues. Probably they did not realize how complex this "world simulator" will become, especially adding the server side to the equation.

To me it seemed more improvised than prepared - and a wasted opportunity sadly. I suspect this is her first interaction with a flight simulator. As such she is not aware of what's most important to the 'hardcore' simmer. Robin

October 28, 20205 yr I find it very good session! They seem to be really impressed with the FBW A320, good job guys! Honestly, I am happy with the MSFS, sure is in progress, but is kind of nice to join the show and see how it evolves based on the community feedback, if we keep like this, indeed this is going to be truly next gen sim. October 29, 20205 yr I guess for my style of flying...having a better SDK for things OTHER than aircraft would be helpful. I really really really REALLY REALLY want to see RealityXP come on board with their GTN and GNS units. I know there are a lot of flying bugs out there but the RNAV(GPS) navigation is severely lacking at the moment.... I mean the ability have functional RNAV(GPS) and RNAV(FMS) navigation, especially while flying (and NOT using the flight planner). It's simply unreliable at this point in time. We've got these beautiful glass cockpit aircraft with very limited avionics.... quite frustrating. October 29, 20205 yr I really like that we have this type of conversation with the developers, get to communicate with them, through forums, streams, etc... I have never seen this before in our industry, flight simulation, although I only started flight simulation in 2009, so newbie here, compared to most simulations platforms, but I could be wrong. This is the second time they admitted to having bugs, etc... in the sim, and dedicated to fixing them as we go along. But the main thing I get from this, as they mentioned it in the last stream and this one, they don't and never did intend to make study level aircraft that 3rd party developers would make as it would take away from their business, and in the case of say the people putting out mods for FREE, that is up to those people that are passionate about a particular aircraft. We might even see study level freeware, who knows. Basically the A32NX mod, and others are some. And I think they even mentioned speaking to them about, putting the mods in the base sim, if the legalities can be worked out. If I heard them correctly. Either way it appears the mods will be there in some way from the community. If not included in the base sim, then simply as a mod is now. This is only the beginning. Hopefully years ahead for learning! I enjoy the sim very, very much as is, and like the constant updates, bug fixes, mods, etc... but that is just me. Before June 2019, I thought MSFS was gone for good. And as of August 2020, as yes you have to choose to pay for it, use the sim and help with the community feedback, which I actually enjoy. Once again that is just me. I'll be very happy when everyone gets what they want, yeah right, in the future. Study level aircraft from GA to Jets, to Airliners. Weather, scenery updates, airports, etc... But it is going to take time. You could either have your perfect sim, never happen, in 2030 ( it's a joke people ), or get on board, and enjoy it, get frustrated by it, be angry at it, trash it, but it is at least in the public's hands now for those that want it. Myself, I choose to have FUN, and enjoy what I have in all my sims, as they are, and look forward to updates, new things, in all of them. After all, it's your choice to buy any product or not buy it. Now, really no one, or very, very few people should have installations problems. Basically no one should, if that is possible. See ya in the skies?
