I'm sure you are not alone in this (as this topic has already proven) but for me the current state of affairs is extremely satisfying already. And it will only get better...! I've not only uninstalled my other sims (P3D, XP, AFS2), I've even deleted every related file and trace of it. For MY kind of flying (!!!) MSFS is a dream come true. The sim I've been waiting for all my life. Honestly, even if it stays as it is now I'll be happy with it. Not a flight goes by without me thinking 'WOW' at least once. I am experiencing things I've never experienced before in a flight sim. It's incomparable with any of the other sims. I'm SO excited that I am able to experience all this and the idea that it will be supported and improved upon for years and years to come makes me very grateful. The only addons I use are Little Nav Map and The Skypark and while they do help (immensely) to enrich the experience I could, if needed, do without them. I feel no need for any 'in game' mods or tweaks or anything. I am perfectly happy with MSFS out of the box. Sure, there are things I'd like to see added or changed but I can wait. I've got the entire world at my fingertips in a quality not ever seen before in a flight sim. The default planes I fly are totally awesome. Anything Asobo will add to MSFS will be a welcomed bonus but I'm happy as can be already. Well, you get the picture: I am NOT disappointed. I've only got ONE thing on my wish list: a good 'study level' Dash 8 Q400 (not a port but a native MSFS version when it comes to graphics). But that's it and that's all. I might buy something like an A2A Comanche too and if an addon offers historical weather, great, but I won't wait for it. PS Almost forgot to say: I was planning on buying a new PC for MSFS but I am still using my good old PC (i7 4790K and GTX 1080 on 1080 res) and MSFS on Ultra (!!!) runs better that P3D and XP ever did. While it looks a thousand times better...!!! And while AFS2 has a higher fps (obviously, since it's a very light sim) it always gave me obvious stutters whenever things were being loaded. MSFS is smooth (what's in a word: it's very objective) all the way (in the places where I like to fly LOL). In short: I am extremely satisfied with the current state of affairs. 😄

You seem like a "glass half empty kind of guy". IMHO it's the best simulator ever, with a ton of potential and plenty of bugs and annoyances, which, I'm sure, will be ironed out in no time. The emerging modding community is second to none. And did I mention that MSFS runs well on medium settings on my PC, which is now in its 6th year of operation?

The question is what do you prefer to fly now? When people fire up their rig, they can click on MSFS or FSX/P3D. The have a choice between the sims in their current state, and not a choice between a vanilla modern sim and a 14 year old vanilla sim. At last! Someone actually makes a sensible comment about this. January 19, 20215 yr I still enjoy P3dv5 quite a bit, but MSFS is really growing on me over the last week. Even without the complex airliners, if they can just solve the melted buildings issue, it will be even better. Definitely the future looks bright. Cheers, Pete I think we can absolutely conclude they will fix melted buildings and the other shortcomings--the product is absolutely stellar already and I can see them solving these various issues. It didn't take too long to fix the cloud pixelation (went away bigtime w/ the patch before last I believe) and that is even w/o the DX-12 port. I've spent about 65% of sim time in P3D in the PMDG 777 just over the past 2 weeks after months of nearly 100% MSFS, but already I'm back to 50:50 again. P3D is especially great from dusk>dawn when the outside world matters very little except in the airport. What's very cool is because of this I can keep scenery sliders very low and not notice which means I have great headroom now for the PMDG birds in and out of big metro terminals, so this practice has breathed new life into P3D for me. I've also disabled Orbx regional scenery for the same reason. I do keep the nice HD addon airports and those look fabulous from dusk>dawn. I flew from KSAN to MNMG last evening, and this morning hoped in my fav TBM930 to tour Nicaragua down to San Jose Costa Rica--absolutely fabulous to get a feel for whatever part of the world you're in. If n when MSFS matures to incorporate complex payware planes, GSX (confirmed to happen by Umberto), there will be little to no reason to keep P3D alive which I will celebrate--never liked the developer, the $200 a pop for each major update, and the fact they have left some very basic stuff untouched out of FSX, like the ancient flight planner, the goofy circa 2000 map, etc. I do not like ATC in MSFS, the voices are just so fake sounding. I would much rather have FSX' old ATC ;o( Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync. Took them well over a decade to get it where it was usable. FS 2020 is only months old. My guess is that in a couple of years, it will be the go to for most simmers. Yes it will . Once a study level jet is introduced that works well the competition will struggle to keep up . Patience 2020 is new .
January 21, 20215 yr Commercial Member I love it cause i can enjoy flying with a good depth of systems (CJ4,TBM,A320). This is all that matters to me. To enjoy it. It also made my PC perform better in comparison with P3D, so i can postpone the upgrade until when PMDG starts releasing aircrafts. Just be careful and read some things before you start installing everything that comes around, or else you will get on the Crash-To-Desktop wagon which is horrible 🙂 I miss my PMDG747 but i never felt the urge of going back. __________________________________________________________________________________________ My FS Photos - My MSFS Settings - i7-14700K / 64GB RAM / MSI 4070 Ti SUPER / 1440p

As a serious simmer, I'm not interested in a GNS530 or a Virtualcol beach or Coronado Waco. I'm at that point where if I want to do a serious study level flight with the appropriate charts and AIRac data msfs is not the way to go. January 21, 20215 yr I have started flying it more when doing pancake flying vs VR. The community mods for the bonanza etc have kept it alive for me. I recently upgraded to a 55" 4K tv as a monitor and I have VRAM issues in P3D V5 now in certain areas where I used to fly alot more often on there (True Earth Washington/Socal/Norcal come to mind), and MSFS has zero hiccups for me and zero pauses while it loads up big places like seattle etc in flight. Do I miss my A2A planes and all the other planes in MSFS? Of course. I would give my left nut for the v35 to be in MSFS or the 182. I do all my VR flying in v5 though as the performance is simply way better and has been since the closed beta of VR in MSFS.
