February 17, 20215 yr I haven't updated yet but can already sense my PC quivering at the thought of trying to render this! 🙃 Tom Wright, UK PPL(A) SEP + Night Rating + IMC/IR(R) Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 | AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D | 32GB DDR5 6000MHz RAM | 16GB RTX 4080 Super | 2x 2TB Samsung 990 PRO M.2 | Thrustmaster TCA Airbus Sidestick + Quadrant | Logitech G Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals | WinCTRL Airbus FCU + EFIS + MCDU
February 17, 20215 yr Sorry but can someone enlighten me what on earth requires 22 GB on data for that update when the UK update needs to be donwloaded seperatly at another 5 GB? Which of the points in the changelog owuld be responsibly for that insane amount of data? Thx! As per usual with Asobo the buildings need to be a bit brighter - to be fair they corrected this for a lot of the US cities so hopefully will do the same here.
February 17, 20215 yr I‘ve now flown 1-2 hours after the new update and I have to say I‘m very pleased. I haven‘t seen any water shark teeth on cliffs, the clouds seem to be less grainy and pixelated, and thanks to the new DEM the mountains look much better (although still a bit too rounded for my taste, but there you go). Today I followed a route I did by car almost 10 years ago from Glasgow to the Isle of Skye via Oban, Fort William and Mallaig. It looked exactly as I remember it and triggered so many great memories. The lighting in this sim is just stunning. What an experience. I’m absolutely sold so far. i9-11900K, RTX 4090, 32 GB ram, Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo, TCA Airbus sidestick and quadrant, Reverb G2

The generic churches are a good addition but need to be more randomly place relative to each other - I saw 2 identical churches within a couple of streets of each other. If this were a walking sim, it would go largely unnoticed, but when you're viewing from above, it's a bit too noticeable. Relatively minor issue overall, admittedly. February 17, 20215 yr Donegal airport surroundings have had its bing map data updated. It looks like the imagery used is from summertime whereas before it was from winter time and looked more rugged.

February 17, 20215 yr So having now downloaded it.. it's awesome! Pleasantly surprised by the performance and my PC is to be considered mid-range these days. If you treat this as a flight simulator and fly at realistic altitudes then the scenery looks absolutely amazing. I took off from my home airport of Biggin Hill and flew north and then along the Thames at 2000-2500ft and was too in awe of how beautiful it looks to notice any mushy looking buildings. February 17, 20215 yr I'm a hardcore Xplane pilot but I must say that this update has really impressed me. For the first time I can fly without CTDs, the clouds look incredible and somehow the performance is drastically improved. Finally a big step in the right direction!
