New "Launching Game" screen

Featured Replies

I just started up MSFS and saw, for the first time, a small screen appear saying "Launching Game" the instant that I pressed the game icon. Previously, we'd press the icon and wait 15 or 20 seconds before anything at all appeared on the screen. To the novice, it looked like something was wrong. Now, this "Launching Game" screen appears instantly. Has anyone else seen this yet? I started up MSFS about an hour ago and the screen wasn't there. It just appeared within the hour.

Anyone else?

I tried earlier this afternoon and no, I didn't yet see it myself...although I have not tried tonight at all.

But I have the sim through Steam so not sure if that makes a difference.

Yep saw it last night. Thought something was wrong initially but then  like you i figured it was some indication by Asobo  that the wait time was too long before the actual splash screen came up so they just dropped an instant one in there to indicate the app was starting up..

I was always surprised this wasn’t a feature from day one. Someone just getting started with MSFS might well assume the program is not starting, since (up until now) nothing at all appears to be happening after clicking on the icon to launch it.

I concur.  I prefer it like this.  Sometimes I was certain I launched the exe....walked away for 10 min, and expected to find the sim running, but it wasn't!

I have the MS version but do not see the launch screen either.

This new? Launched from the Taskbar. Never seen it till after the NEW update! To be honest I usually Launch the game while ready forums, making coffee, cutting the lawn, doing laundry, painting the house, cause I have it on an HDD and it takes 3-6 minutes, with like 20-30 items in Community folder. And I don't even usually look at the screen, let it run in the background. Me like it! And I have the MS Store version!

I heard it mentioned by someone else but don't get it so far. Thanks for the hint, I'll investigate what myy block it for me. I use a batch file and the -faststart option to start MSFS, maybe this does suppress it.

Kind regards, Michael
