CPU core 0 used more than GPU in v5.2.

Were those reports about performance of Prepar3D v5.2 specifically? Or were they just some general observations?

Thanks.

5.2 specifically, users seeing spikes only since 5.2 associated with the increased CPU usage.  Could also be that hitting sustained 100% revealed the weaknesses in their cooling systems.  But the reports came after 5.2

Yep, that is me.

I was seeing 100% on Core 0 with 5.1 but temperatures were at least 25 degrees Celsius lower. Only thing that has changed on my end is going to 5.2.

The difference with 5.2 which is the main issue I have with it, is there massive usage of the other CPU cores which are also going up to 100%, even if I have the sliders all the way to the left.

FYI here are the loads and temps I was seeing yesterday with P3d v5.2 PRIOR to installing the new heatsink / fan.

That, I have seen as well...  Lower VRAM usage coupled with higher CPU (scenery loading) usage.

Have you tried testing with add-ons disabled temporarily just to see if the issue persists?  Just run with whatever scenery you have installed but all other add-ons disabled?

In addition, as suggested disable all "text/info" messages

Cheers, Rob.

Hi Rob, I’ve already disabled all the text messages etc. you showed.

One of the addons is AIG Ai so it would make sense to leave that enabled just so I get a like for like comparison at Manchester.

Is disabling Hyper threading in the BIOS just a simple on/off selection? I rarely go into it as I’m no expert in that area.

What problems might you have with leaving active messages?

I'm not Rob, but the answer is: Not in your case, Ray! You'll need to recalculate and change all the AMs you've been using. Don't forget about it if you end up willing to play with HT On/Off.

PS: Subjectively I'm having a more fluid performance if I use HT On in all of my flight sims BUT only when using very special custom AMs for each one and they are: MSFS (but not now), X-Plane, F4 BMS, DCS, IL-2, RoF, WoFF. After a lot of trials and changes always ended up with HT On + custom AM.

@Dirk98, you’ve seen Rob’s advice not to bother as the hot fix may solve the problem.

I am rolling back to 5.1HF1 as we speak.  For me 5.2 felt like a performance downgrade.  I still don't like EA.  So I really don't feel like I'm missing much.

I've done that as well, until things get ironed out which they always do.

My fan speeds dropped back down after doing this. My 11GB card has gone back to work :>)
