So should I buy an X box then???

Featured Replies

From what I have seen, MSFS looks really poor on the Series S (comparable to low settings). I would recommend anybody switching to console to get the Series X.

Exactly. Soon people will understand that this is a brilliant marketing idea from Microsoft.
We (PC folks who think we are smart because we keep on tweaking the hardware - trust me I am one of those hard headed guys) are getting what we were asking for, and (happily) served as guinea-pigs to test and give ideas to improve the software. Nothing wrong with that.
Now Microsoft is coming with an extremely efficient solution to make profit from a problem they unintentionally created (performance) ,,,, " I will sell you a box that does all you need to sim at good performance for less than the price of a modern GPU. !. The new Xbox-X supports standard keyboard, yoke, pedals, etc. Initially only a few (the most common) but sooner than later many many models of those.

Isn't this awesome? this is no just for gaming kids.... this also serves the need of many study-level simmers. Perhaps only those who's real hobby is "tweaking well" instead of "flying well" may not gain from the X-Box-X thing... maybe? ... Time will tell....

and you forget the mos timportant thing for real simmers..you dont have access to all the mods, so no vatsim etc etc etc

i like the shipping mod...cant do that on console..

this has always been a  very big minus for a console, otherwise its an unbeatable price.

Since you already have  the Honeycomb products for PC only, seems like it is a new PC. But you are the customer so it is your decision in the end. Of course at one time you could have sold your Honeycomb Yoke and Quadrant for about what you paid. Have no clue what the stock is like now for those.

The Honeycomb Bravo is already compatible with the XBOX

The Honeycomb Alpha will be re-released with a new version that will work on PC+XBOX, which will be out early 2022. However, Honeycomb promised a 29$ USB Hub that would allow existing PC-only Alpha yokes to be connected to the XBOX.

So, assuming the XBOX USB Hub will be released shortly, it won't be necessary to repurchase any Honeycomb hardware.

I've been very, very tempted over the last few weeks to buy a Series S as they're on next day on Amazon. Forget the Series X, they're literally like hens teeth at the moment.

The Series S does not appear to run MSFS at as high a quality as Series X so you might do better to wait to see some further comparisons of the two before jumping into the Amazon shop.

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X on ROG CROSSHAIR VIIl DARK HERO (AM4), Asus ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3080 V2 OC and 32 GB Vengeance Pro Ram 3600MHz. DELL Alienware AW3420DW 3440x1440 and DELL U2414H

I wonder what the series X PC settings are the equivalent of. High? Ultra? Medium? Would be nice to know.

I think they will be completely different animals. Besides the lack of controller support i would wonder if things like simbrief can even be used? What about EFB tools? Or TrackIR? Can you add content outside the marketplace? They won’t be the same experiences.

I would focus more on those tradeoffs. Bang for the buck will of course be better with console but can you live with those tradeoffs?

Yep, those items are what divide the console vs. desktop experience. I have an Xbox Series X and I'm excited to try out MSFS on it, but I already know for certain it's not going to be a substitute for what I do on the desktop. Especially when it has such meager peripheral support... e.g. how is the T16000M not supported?

I would!

LOL to all those that just spent $1,500.00 just on a new video card!

You could have bought 3 Xboxes for that and run the sim amazing!!!

So despite my previous post talking myself out of it I have just caved and bought a Series S. Can't justify the cost of a Series X not owning a 4K TV and they're also nowhere to be found. The S is so cheap in comparison and seems to be readily available (and it looks nice which if its going to be sitting in my living room is quite important!)

Being my first Xbox console I'm quite excited! Going to try Forza Horizon 4 as well as I also love driving games/sims.

even more so all those desperate souls like me who spent a lousy 1.950 $ on the GPU alone. but then again, it came with a 10 year warranty (not bad considering playing a single game just one time can dissolve the GPU into smoke and ashes, New World by Amazon, on EVGA RTX 3090) 😉

"You could have bought 3 Xboxes for that"

actually 4 xboxes to be precise, and that's what I had in mind initially, to fly like those simultaneous chess players. could fly to more airports in the same amount of time and be more productive. considering there are some 40.000 airports left on my to-fly list.

and how many Gigabytes VRAM does a pilot need before you can call him a man.

very nice.

Nice, hope you enjoy it. Let us know what you think when you get it and try MSFS on it. And other games.

Enjoy!

Well that's nice to know. I must be thinking wrong, as I figured people that have these types of large items are tied to a desk, and not sitting on their couch playing MSFS. Of course they do make steering wheels and such for consoles, and me not having had one for over 20 years, I don't really know. If i get one, and I might one day, it's so I can fly MSFS and play other games while being comfortable sitting in a chair or couch, and a big one, take it with me. I like the idea of a portable console to be able to use MSFS. Even just being able to move it to another room..

But hey, that's just me! And it is great to know that it all will work with just a dongle. Now, that Turtle Beach thing looks cool, and PC & Xbox, just because it is more compact. Good times for flight simulation. You have choices, one or the other, or both 🙂

I can not find any information that my Bravo is compatible with Xbox, it has no xbox badge on the cover like all other xbox gadgets I have owned in the past.
