July 27, 20214 yr 5 hours of downloading and 75% done now. Hopefully finished by 10.30 pm BST then up all night downloading from the content manager and market place. Still, I'm slowly getting there and hoping there are no glitches or crashes. July 27, 20214 yr Even more wierd... This is so strange... Now I did not get the "internetconnection failure" Everything looks ok, no messages about lost contact, but just before the sim is about to kick in, it "dies", shuts down... I have my sim, and always has, on the D:drive, that could be the problem or? Was never ever a problem before, so I hope its ok after this SU5, but something is still causing the sim not to start... Anyone else with the same problem?

I cancelled the download quit the thing all together - started again and now getting much higher speeds. Try it if you brave enough I did the same thing a couple of hours ago and also now have much better speeds -- about 3 times as fast. MSFS 2024. Hopefully they fix it, or we can tune the radius of vision ourselves in the future. I can't judge myself so far, but if this turns out ot be a general foible I doubt they will be able to fix it anytime soon. Recall from P3D, where we had a short LOD radius with soft blending of new objects until, I think, the end of the 3.x versions. This was modified to either (i) soft blending in, but limited to a short LOD (until the "medium" LOD setting) or (ii) a larger LOD with autogen visibly popping in (LOD larger than "medium") in more recent versions. This is still state of the art in Prepar3d5.2, and to my knowledge the staff never commented or admitted they are going to tackle this issue, despite numerous forum threads. I am afraid, there is some trade-off in the FSX/ESP/MSFS terrain engine restricting soft autogen loading to a small LOD, supposedly caused by performance considerations. But as I said, I can't see it myself yet, thus I'll keep final judgement. Anyone else with the same problem? Well i have the same issue but didn’t even have the chance to upgrade to SU5…, only the store upgrade (about 600 Mo?). 5 seconds after a black screen boom back to desk. Will try again tomorrow… also considering reinstalling the whole thing. Good night from here in France 😉

July 27, 20214 yr All updated. A few observations... + Screens load a lot faster now. + No stutters now when ATC communicates. That was really frustrating. + FPS on my rig is an easy 15 to 30 fps better. + Very smooth during flight. + Some nice additions to the AI pilot. - Unless you turn off Photogrammetry a lot of scenery pops in as you pan around. - CTDs galore. I turned off AI so hopefully that was the root cause. - My system runs a lot hotter now. Overall I think this is positive, as the stutters were driving me crazy. But losing Photogrammetry sucks and my system might melt down. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 96GB DDR5 | 4K G-Sync | Win11 Pro
July 27, 20214 yr Any high altitude flying done yet? Apparently the scenery from FL300 and above looks absolutely dreadful.
