Which are the best payware planes available now ?

Featured Replies

I am spoiled with A2A planes in FSX and P3D. Since there are no A2A planes for MSFS I am looking for alternatives. Which to buy if you want best quality and realism ?

Also I prefer analogue instrument over glass cockpit like G1000. In the first hand it's prop plane I plan to buy.

i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"

PMDG's DC-6 .. simply stunning.

AMD Ryzen 7 5800x3d, MSI X570 Pro, 32 gb DDR4 3600 ram, Gigabyte 6800 16gb GPU, 1x 2tb Samsung  NvMe , 1x 2tb Sabrent NvME, 1x Crucial 4tb Nvme M2 Drive

I have only three payware :  the DC-6 stands out. A smart product as it is as complex as you want it to be without dumbingg it down thanks to a virtual engineer helping to manage the workload like in the A2A Strat' or Connie.

The Milviz Corsair or Flyingiron Spitfire are not bad either.

To me it is JF Warrior II, only some minor bugs.

AT Simulations Piaggio 149D deserves an honourable mention.

In regards to quality and system depth it's the DC6 by a mile.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

You cant go wrong with:

  • PMDG DC-6
  • The Just Flight Pipers (Arrow, turbo arrow, warrior)
  • AT Simulations Piaggio 149D.

All of those are must haves! Also, when you get the DC-6 (You should) try to fly it without the AFE and will all the realism turned on. Take your time, but its worth it!

PMDG's DC-6 is the benchmark at the moment, but commendable second places got to:

For GA stuff, the Just Flight PA28 variants, the Carenado Mooney M20R Ovation and their Piper PA34 Seneca, and the Lionheart TB21 Socata Trinidad.

For some vintage fun, the AT Simulations Piaggio P.149, Aeroplane Heaven Cessna 140 or the Blue Mesh C.430 Caudron.

All of the WW2 Warbirds are worth a look (Milviz, Big Radials and Flying Iron).

This is not to say that some other stuff which is available is not worth having, but these above are some which definitely stand out.

Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

Check out videos for the Carenado Mooney.  My fav P3D aircraft was the V-tail A2A Bonanza, and the Mooney is as close as I've found in MSFS.  Systems modelling nowhere near as complex, but still enjoyable and nice high performance aircraft.

Some great recommendations above.  If you like LSA / Microlights, the IRIS Simulations Jabiru J160/170 was my favourite of the type in FSX and P3D ....... and the MSFS version is superior in every way!

Flies like a LSA and tons of model and panel options provided (inc. a custom EFIS, not the same old same old MSFS default). Sounds are authentic and immersive.  My one picky point is that there are no door opening sounds (huh... the shock... how dare they!) 😄

Just Flight Pipers and Arrow.

I agree, these are terrific. Just a heads up, they need an update for SU5. A lot got broken.

Another vote for the Just Flight Pipers - the Warrior is probably my favourite right now.

Also finally got round to flying the Aerosoft CRJ at the weekend and that's a really good one too, IMO.
